Normally, I have a great experience at buc-ee's. This time, I went to Buc-ee's to use the Tesla charger. I recently purchased an adapter so that I could charge my car at a Tesla station. I went to the only available spot at the time and plugged in using my adapter and had no issue. The issue arose after about 10 minutes.
Another customer came up to me and got my attention. He politely asked if I could stop charging my car and move to a different spot so that he could use the charger that was currently hooked up to my car.(Basically, the way the chargers are laid out versus the charging port placement of Tesla and non-tesla cars can lead to situations where you could be next to a non-tesla car charging and then when that person leaves it creates a dead space because it doesn't line up for Tesla car that's waiting there. This is a non-issue because there are other chargers available at the site.)
I politely said no at the time because I was already over halfway done charging. Unfortunately, he would not let the issue drop. He kept arguing that because he was being polite. I should let him have his way. I told him that I was already in the middle of charging and that wants a spot frees up, he could charge at that time just like any other person who waits to charge at a charging station. There were others also waiting to charge. (There were many other chargers available, just on the other side of the lot. He and many of the Tesla drivers waiting did not know about them or chose not to use them) Instead of accepting that he needed to wait, he disconnected my charger and plugged it into his car. I got out of my car to ask him why he would choose to do something like that and he responded that because I'm being unreasonable and not giving him the ability to use that specific charger he was entitled to unplug me and charge his car.
During the back and forth, a manager from buc-ee's approaches and hears both sides, he says what's done is done and for me to go to the chargers on the other side of the lot. No reprimand to the other person. No kicking him off a charger. Nothing offered in compensation for anything, not even a sorry.
Here I am now charging on the other side, where the rate is 60% more expensive.
To be clear, he approached me instead of looking for other chargers. He unplugged my vehicle in the middle of charging when he couldn't get his way. I chose to confront that clearly wrong behavior only after he unplugged my car. The fact that a manager chose not to correct the issue and instead told me to move because the other guy already unplugged me and was charging his...
Read moreLet me tell you, Buc-ee’s in Denton, TX is an absolute MUST stop if you're on the road. I LOVE Buc-ee’s, and this location is no exception. From the moment we pulled in, it had everything I’ve come to expect from the best convenience store on the planet. 💥
First off, Buc-ee’s always nails it with the layout. Just like Walmart, you know exactly where everything is no matter which location you visit. That familiarity makes it so easy to get in, get what you need, and get out. But let's be honest—you don't really want to get out of Buc-ee’s too quickly because there's so much to take in! 👊
We needed ice, and guess what? Buc-ee’s has the lowest price on ice you’ll find anywhere! I’m talking seriously cheap. Look at the pics. At $2.50 a bag (BIG BAG), it blows the competition out of the water—compared to $4 at other places. That’s just one small example of how Buc-ee’s gets it right every single time.
But let’s talk about the real showstopper here: the restrooms. I don’t care if you’re traveling across town or across the country—Buc-ee’s has THE BEST restrooms, hands down. 💥💥 They’re spacious, spotless, and private. You’re not stuck in some cramped, sketchy stall like at other gas stations. Buc-ee’s understands that when you’re on the road, having a clean and comfortable restroom is a game changer.
The Denton location lives up to Buc-ee’s legendary status in every way. The staff was friendly and efficient, the store was spotless, and it had everything from snacks to souvenirs. And let’s not forget the food! Whether you’re in the mood for their famous brisket sandwiches or grabbing a bag of beaver nuggets, you’re covered.
There are things that are important to me at a gas station especially on a road trip: Cleanliness of the restrooms - 5 star for this location Cleanliness of the store itself - 5 star for this location Friendliness of the attendants - 5 star for this location Working Tap at the pump - 5 star for this location
If you haven’t experienced Buc-ee’s yet, do yourself a favor and make this your next stop. It’s a road trip game-changer, and once you’ve been, you’ll understand why people rave about it. Buc-ee’s is not just a convenience store—it’s an experience. And the Denton location does not...
Read moreWas super tired and googled “safety rest area” in maps. Buc-ee’s was first suggestion and closest. They also don’t allow semis so I thought it would be more quiet too. That’s the one bad thing about truck stops and state rest areas, they are usually full of semi trucks and all the noise that comes with that.
HUGE LOT, place to walk your dog, etc. I Bought about 30 dollars worth of overpriced food. (Jerky, salad, nuts etc). Most of it was garbage. I asked the cashier about grabbing some shut eye and was told 4 hours max. This was fine as I was just looking for a Power Nap. Bathrooms are amazing.
On the return leg of my trip I bought a brisket sandwich which was god awful and expensive. I also tried the chicken tender meal and the fudge. The fudge tasted like crappy high fructose corn syrup fudge not like old fashioned cane sugar fudge. Definitely not worth the 4 bucks per piece. The chicken tender box was pretty decent.
I was again dead tired so I bought my food and drove out to completely empty part of the lot. Woke to a young man tapping on my window saying I couldn’t loiter. I told him I was told four hours, he said go to the movie theater around the corner and sleep there.
They have plenty of space to walk dogs etc but apparently not enough space to snatch a few hours of sleep. I went about 7 miles down the road to a truck stop that had no issues with you grabbing some zzz’s. I felt guilty I had dropped cash at Buc-ee’s so I bought some stuff just for giggles to support the business.
No more Buc-ee’s for me. Though I will stop and get gas and use their immaculate restrooms.
Pros:
Clean bathrooms lots of hand sanitizer everywhere Gas pumps are decent Plenty of space to stretch your legs, walk the dog etc
Cons:
They let people bring in pets, saw multiple dogs riding in carts. NOT service dogs Crowded during daytime Most BUC-EES branded products were gross. Not friendly to RVers or folks passing through who need a few winks to safely...
