Aspen, the chef we ended up working with was amazing. Food was delicious. I will compliment him endlessly for working through a difficult situation with this company with us. Everything leading up to the day was very difficult. I sincerely was not sure we would have a meal or anyone showing up until the day of. When I first put out the request, the company and chef(owner?) responded immediately and called immediately, and gave a consult. I left that call feeling very excited for the dinner and booked that night as they said they were throw in two free bottles of wine if we booked that day. The request for the deposit came immediately, and was also paid immediately. And then I experienced crickets for the next month. A couple weeks later I reached out asking for an invoice for the deposit that I paid, a contract, or any kind of next steps. I heard nothing back. I’ll admit this is my first time doing something like this, and a contract is something I should’ve asked prior to, and that is on me for not protecting myself with that, but I sincerely thought it might be being scammed at this point. As I’d already paid a deposit, I chose to attempt to continue going with this company. I was able to eventually to get them to respond after sending more unprompted messages with ideas we had for a menu. I was finally was sent an intake form, which felt silly filling out, a week before, as I had asked for it months ago and through my own pushing had had a menu sent over. This also coincided with When I was also asked for final payment. When payment was needed was the only time I really felt that I could get a hold of or reach out to the contact and receive a response. The day of I received a text from the chef who would be working with us (this could be a misinterpretation on our part, but in our consult call, I was under the impression I was talking to the man who would be our chef, he never mentioned that he utilized and hired other chefs in the area. Be aware of that. I was also under the impression they would have a person helping them, but I could be wrong). Later that day about an hour before he was supposed to arrive, I received a call from him telling us that he had had to do his own shopping, and somehow there was a miscommunication that groceries would be delivered to our house. He also mentioned it was his first time working with this company. Aspen, our chef did a great job shopping for us. I truly feel he fulfilled the menu he was given and our requests. We also had to ask him to pick up our bottles of wine for us, as it became very apparent that any communication that may have happened with that was completely lost. And I felt that would be easier than trying to get any type of refund for those through this company. Due to this misunderstanding, we had our dinner three hours late, which luckily worked out fine with our schedule, and I sincerely don’t believe it was the chef who actually helped us fault, versus the company. As a whole, I feel lucky that it worked out for us. And we were still able to have a dinner that everybody enjoyed. However, I feel this was due to the professionalism of our chef and I would never work with this...
Read moreI booked Steve for an engagement party dinner in Denver more than 8 months in advance. Upon initial communication, Steve was late to our intro call. He’s quick to say that he can accommodate whatever you need and knows what to say so that you can make payment on the invoice.
A week before my planned event, it was impossible to get any consistent communication from Steve to confirm details necessary for a successful event. When I did receive word from him, it was a couple words max and it did not give me any confidence. In the end, Steve says he got me down for a different date than what we initially agreed upon in our invoice and prior email communications. He was unapologetic and made planning a nightmare.
Steve offered a refund and after waiting the full 10 business days, it never came. I completed a dispute via my bank and that was the only way I could get my money back. I would not recommend Steve as a private chef for any events.
Lastly, a lot of reviews on Google for this business appear fabricated and Yelp has more accurate customer reviews sharing similar experiences to me under “Mile High Cook” in Denver. Please avoid...
Read moreWe got off to a rocky start, after they weren’t able to show up on time last minute on the day of our booking. It was supposed to be a small brunch for my husbands birthday. I was pretty upset, as you can probably understand.
But they offered me a full refund, plus a do over day at no charge.
Joe came by today and made us the best brunch. The spread was great (muffins and cinnamon rolls, quiche, eggs Benedict’s with lox, and a beautiful, fresh fruit platter. He was friendly, professional and cleaned up after so well. All we had to do was put the leftovers away.
It was exactly what I’d wanted for our original event.
This review isn’t about the original event, obviously if I was basing my review on that it would look quite different. But they really came through to make it up to us and that is what this...
