We booked a sunset dolphin cruise for 6/13/22. The parking was free and easy at Aj's seafood and oyster bar restaurant. The boat was easy to find and Captain Chandler was ready for us as soon as we arrived. Captain Chandler welcomed us onto his boat and made us feel very welcome and excited for the cruise. We started the cruise by going around the channels and looking at the local homes and boats. Captain Chandler grew up in the area and he told us so much about the history of the town and waterways. It was all very interesting. We then went into the Gulf and he brought us right up close to some dolphins. They were beautiful. They water in the Gulf was rougher than the water in the channels, but we always felt safe and comfortable in the boat. Captain Chandler then took us to Crab Island to watch the sunset. The natural beauty of the sun and the water was breathtaking. Just when we thought the time on the water couldn't get any better, 3-4 dolphins started playing in the water right by us at Crab Island. The dolphins gave us the most amazing show!!! They were chasing fish and jumping out of the water right by us!! Dolphins jumping out of turquoise water with the most magnificent orange sun setting in front of us.....it felt like a dream. Captain Chandler is personable, friendly and so easy going. He gave us wonderful recommendations on restaurants to eat at, which we did a couple nights later and he was right....it was delicious! The cruise was something I will never forget and am so thankful that my family and I got the chance to experience it. It's really hard to describe. It was relaxing and exciting and amazing and all of those other "ings" that you can think of. Captain Chandler was amazing very easy to talk to explained things simply. We went out into the Gulf expecting to see dolphins and we did which was the major reason we went on the boat. After getting back into the channels we headed over to Crab Island. It was completely empty so the water was very still we were the only boat out there and the sun was setting. We're sitting on the front of his boat just watching the sunset and the beautiful water and then we we got a truly amazing show from dolphins. They were swimming around us jumping out of the water maybe they even made us help them catch fish because there was a school of fish jumping out of the water as they were rounding them up. At one point I wanted to record or take a picture but I kept telling myself to stay in the moment because the moment was great. Got some great food recommendations from Captain Chandler. Went to Harbor Docks and had the best fish and grits I've ever had. It was a great experience something I will truly remember and cherish with my family. There are not enough words to describe how amazing our private boat tour was. Captain Chandler was friendly, personable and extremely accommodating. His local knowledge gave us great insights as to what local spots to hit and his experience navigating the boat kept us at ease, able to truly enjoy the experience, knowing we were in safe hands. Despite the water conditions not being ideal he found a little hide away spot that allowed us the opportunity to enjoy the sunset while in the water. We saw so many dolphins, which was my goal of the outing. If you are big on supporting local, there is no better way to do that than booking with him. The only thing I would do differently is to do this first thing when we got there. I have already recommended him to family and friends and cannot speak highly enough of him! Splurge, don’t deal with crowds and mass amounts of people on one boat and book this. You will leave with a life time of memories and plans to return, that is guaranteed!
