Motel 6 Destin, FL — Hotel in Destin

I booked this last minute for 4th of July weekend what a big mistake! was charged 400.00 a night , it was disgusting, we had to go to Target and buy cleaning supplies and new blankets for bed. I scrubbed the floor with bleach cleaner I have attached a picture of one of the towels after cleaning floor I ran out of paper towels wiping up the floor so I had to use a towel this is after 2 times of cleaning the floor . We bought a small rug to go between beds so we could take our shoes off and have a clean area to put our feet before getting into bed. I bleached the toilet and tub, they had sheets on the bed no bedding other than a sheet and a thin blanket with cigarette hole and fraid areas then another sheet I guess using it in place of a comforter. We took this stuff off the bed and used are new ones from target . The tub would not drain so you stood in dirt water. Adjoining room door handle would not lock had broken safety latch so couldn’t even lock the door that way . We put cooler in front of door hoping it would make noise if someone tried to enter. First room we were in the TV and phone didn’t work so I had to call room service from my cell phone to report no TV this room had comforters on beds but were all stained I should of got pictures before they moved us to another room. Room we stayed in the entry door would not close without holding in the plate between the door jam, called reported it . Staff came up showed us how to make it work till they could get it fixed the following day. The Air conditioner was a joke we went and bought a fan the second night so we could sleep without sweating .The hallways and stairs looked like they have never been swept or cleaned , cigarette butts all over , seen razor blades around parking area in front of rooms. This place was such a disappointment! We would have left the second we seen the first room but everything in the area was full so we had no choice . Only good thing I can say is the staff was friendly and the pool was clean other than that I have nothing good to say . I wish I had taken more pictures, but never thought I would write a review. I still can’t get over that I paid over $800.00 for this experience 🤬 since my stay I have gone on the motels website and have seen they rent these rooms starting at $99 a night I wouldn’t even pay that to stay here. Not sure if this is a possibility but looking in to getting some of my money back . They should be ashamed charging that amount for what they offer!!!! For the price of the hotel $150ish on the weekend, I was not expecting too much. Just a place to sleep and shower while out on vacation. The experience as a whole was miserable. I received a call the day I was to check in, I was simply asked what time I would be arriving. I told the lady on the phone that I'd be there by 9 pm. She didn't ask me anything else. Upon arriving, my headache began. My credit card had been charged for 1 single night (even though I reserved 3) and was told that my reservation was cancelled because I was a no show. Um, what? I had just spoken to them earlier that day! Well they didn't care. They said it as policy to cancel everyone after 6 pm even though they spoke to me. After becoming upset because for 1 my credit card was charged, I intended to pay with cash, but also 2 I was told that now the price of my stay would be higher since they would rebook me even though I had nothing to do with canceling my room. I fought them for at least an hour and once the manager could clearly see my frustration she gave me the room rate that I reserved and requested "so that I could go get some rest" This is not how I wanted to start my vacation. The next day I was out at the beach, I returned to the hotel with my 5 month old baby. I walked to my second story room, #255 only to find out that my keys no longer worked. I called the hotel front desk only to be told that I needed to come get them because they didn't have time to go give me keys. Nice. Eventually the maintenance man came and let me in. The next day I went out and when I returned to my room, I found out that the room was starting to flood. I had a large puddle of rain water on my floor right by the door. I again called the front desk, they said "can you just put some towels down or something" seriously!?!? Oh and not to mention the fact that room service didn't show up. My companion ended up talking to the front desk person and had the manager come down. He brought towels cleaned up the puddle of water. He didn't even offer us a non flooded room. We complained about the lack of towels, room service and the front desk people. Nothing was done. The following day my keys were again not working and of course no help from the staff. I also asked what time the pool closed only to be told "its closed now" So many more things wrong with this hotel but the complete disregard for customers is what kills me. Terrible workers, dirty rooms, dirty sheets, dirty pool...

I came to Destin for business. In all my years of traveling this has been the only experience I feel need to to express my disappointment. I understand Destin is very busy trying to accommodate victims of the hurricane and your front desk employee told me you are short handed and only have two cleaners. My room was unacceptable. I didn't arrive until 7pm. After taking two loads from my car up and setting it inside the door I went to the restroom. I couldn't use it because it wasn't clean. The covering over the beds were very dirty. I went to the front counter and she gave me keys to a different room. I moved everything over to that room and went to the restroom. Couldn't use it because it was dirty also. And so were the bed coverings. I went back to the office and asked for cleaning supplies and a clean bed covering. She said she would come clean the bathroom but didn't have extra bed coverings. I asked if she had a clean blanket I could use instead. I went back to my room and sat in the chair until she returned with the blanket and to clean the toilet. I pulled the dirty covering off the bed and the sheets were dirty also. I let her know I needed sheets too. She brought sheets and said I would have to make the bed because she dont make beds. I am so glad because when I pulled the sheets off the mattress protector was worse than the rest. She looked at it and confirmed. I had to wait for laundry to get a clean protector so I sat in the chair and waited. Once receiving the mattress protector I removed the dirty one and the mattress was even worse than the protector. At this point I knew I was not being provided a healthy and safe place to sleep. I loaded everything back into my car and went to the office to let her know I couldn't stay in those conditions and would like my card refunded so I could go find a place to stay. She said she would not refund me because I have already been there a while. I told her that was only because we were trying to make the room useable and it took that long to figure out we couldn't. She said she still couldn't because she has already come to clean the room for me.(she rinsed out the toilet and brought bedding for me to change myself) She then said she wouldn't refund me because I have already missed that bed up.
