Crab Island Shuttle Boat & Adventure Tour — Attraction in Destin

My 13-year-old daughter decided we were coming to Destin Florida this year just because she saw video on YouTube about crab Island. So the first thing that we did was look at renting boats to take the crab island which we quickly decided was a bad idea because neither my wife nor I know how to drive a boat. We checked out a lot of the tour companies in decided that the Crab Island Shuttle Boat and Tour adventure had good reviews and lots of things to do so we booked with this company. We arrived at the check-in which was very painless loaded up on the boat with Captain Nick and Beca who gave us the randown of the safety features of the vessel and what the itinerary for the day was going to be.

They stated that we were going to the adventure portion of the day first and then on the Crab Island. Once we arrived at the adventure portion of the day they provided snorkel gear, stand up paddle boards, kayak and banana boat rides. The snorkeling was excellent and allowed us to get right up close to the fish and we did some sea shelling off of the floor. We found several live crabs in shells and also some really nice seashells while snorkeling. My son kayaked and my wife tried stand up paddle boarding unsuccessfully. The banana boat ride was super fast and fun. I especially enjoyed the fact of my son went flying off to my amusement. We stayed there for about an hour and 45 minutes and then proceeded on the Crab Island.

Crab Island was very clear when we first got there and plentiful for things to entertain my children and plenty of things to snack on and purchase. We spent about 2 hours at Crab Island it was very enjoyable for my daughter It made this entire trip worthwhile in her mind. Just so you know they do take cards at Crab Island and on the boat for alcoholic beverages if you wish to partake.

Our family took a three hour excursion to crab island with Captain Kirk , everything was great. Before going on the trip, we were nervous about the the “family friendly” atmosphere. Capt. Kirk and his helper tried their best to make sure EVERYONE had a great time. We had several small kids (3, 10,11,12, 13 year old) in our group, and we were accompanied. The captain and his helper blew up our floaters, allowed us to use extra floaties from the boat, called vendors over to our boat, and even rescued us when we traveled to far. Everyone on the boat was nice, and helpful. Feedback: In my opinion, the tours should be a little longer. Although other adults in our group thought the timeframe was perfect. I’m not sure if an excursion longer than 3 hours is available. The crew played music appropriate for everyone, the moment an inappropriate word was played, the music was changed. I enjoyed the music and atmosphere it created. I wish adult ONLY and family friendly tours were separate. Some members were a little tipsy and loud on our tour back to the dock. Although they did not offend me, some may feel uncomfortable in this situation.

It was a great experience. They took us to Crab Island, let us do our thing, then took us back. If you are not wanting to rent a boat for the day - this option is for you. Great for kids. We did the 9am which is was great so I didn't get sunburned at all. They'll blow up your floaties for you too.

The only thing that deterred me from doing 5 stars was how the crew was treated at the end. I felt sorry for him b/c he was struggling to dock the boat and instead of just helping him the captain seemed a little insulting about him in front of everyone which didn't help the situation. I felt super bad for him b/c at the end of the day the guy was a really nice guy and the captain could've eased up a little in my opinion or ripped him a new one on the side. I work in construction I know what it's like to get my a** chewed out in front of everyone so I am not a snowflake by any means just wish this guy hadn't been insulted in front of everyone.
