Response to owner: First off you do offer cross training. It is indeed cross fit! I was asked by a trainer when signing in “have you ever tried cross fit and do u feel stronger?” So u tried it… second, duh I have been to the location in eastern market, otherwise I wouldn't have left a comment under this specific location if I hadn’t been there, nice try again. Also Mea lee isn’t my real name so of course u wouldn’t find it in the system 😂😂. Ur just proving my review to be accurate. You don’t get to know people personally. You guys just care about money.
I started CrossFit training here. I am a beginner. Im aware nothing happens overnight. I love the workouts and how good I feel after doing them. I plan to do it three times a week. However, the trainers are not very good/helpful. Really it’s a little pricey for a 40 min class. Especially when they don’t try to get to know you, your body type, your fitness level or your diet. As a beginner… I KNOW NOTHING! I had some cramps last and I’m in so much pain/ soreness! I had to do research on my own to learn a lot about CrossFit. I feel when u join a gym the coaches should help you to improve your posture and your form. I’m not even sure if they are CrossFit certified. I felt judged my first day by all the people who are more advanced. Obviously that didn’t stop me from going but it’s crazy how when you are starting they expect you to know and follow everything that everyone else is doing. I had to take an ice bath after my second day! I’m lifting too heavy and they just watch you struggle. I’m going to keep giving it a try and if nothing improves I’ll move on.
Edit: these classes aren’t personal at all. They don’t ask about your progress. It’s more like a “here, do this” type of class. It’s not a “can you do this?” type of thing if you know what I mean. You say your a beginner and their response is : “okay😁….” ….. 🚶♂️*trainer walks always …. 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m learning a lot and nothing at the same time. It’s teaching mental toughness. It’s a challenge. I was mad today for a lot of personal reasons and it was motivating! I like it and ima be back next week.
Edit: Went back realized it’s not at all what I’m looking for I need a personal experience. I made no changes physically. Honest waste of cash. These classes are for elites,...
Read moreIt's rare I leave a review like this but I wanted to leave an honest review, from someone who is a boxer and fitness instructor and trainer.
I took a "kickboxing" class here- this is NOT where you would go to truly learn to box. A review here says this is for elite boxers, that is definitely not the case (and thats ok)!
The instructor was clear on the mic, however did not demo a single movement. There were new people in this class who had never done this- I dropped in from out of town so technically I was one of them- when you have new people you really need to take a few mins before or at the beginning of class to demo the moves. I had to watch the person next to me as if this were a dance fitness class I were just trying out.
If you want to sweat, "kickbox" to the beat of the music- sure, this is for you and it can be a good workout. If you are looking for a more dedicated fitness class where you learn something, or learn to box, this would probably not be the place for you.
I have not tried their crosstraining, but reading reviews I bet it's good! Seems like that is where they shine.
I personally wouldn't go back, but I really could see how for some people, to learn the "choreo" of the kickboxing class and keep coming back could be exactly what they want. The staff was nice but not overly attentive, however for true newbies to your gym I'd suggest giving them...
Read moreI’ve been attending Jabs faithfully for several years now. I was initially drawn to Jabs because of Armond’s enthusiastic, organized, and effective stewardship of Run This Town, and believed he could translate the momentum of RTT to an extraordinary brick and mortar fitness experience. Since then my experience here has only surpassed my initial expectations. From the collegial, talented, and dedicated Jabs Gym Team (Armond, Sydni, Montrell, Jordan, Dominic, CeCe, Argy, and Mike the maintenance man) to the light-hearted atmosphere, and challenging, go-at-your-own pace classes — I can say that my experience has been more than rewarding. My fitness level (cardiovascular, endurance, and strength) has improved leaps and bounds and, what’s more, I feel like I can do more with my body than I could several years ago. More importantly, I feel like with each class, with each drop of sweat, and heavy breath, I’m improving my health and, as a result, extending the amount of time I get to spend above ground with my wife and children. What keeps me coming back, in addition to the aforementioned, is the realization that fitness is a journey where there is always room for continuous improvement. Jabs creates an inviting atmosphere that enables each person to further their own fitness journey, no matter the age, size, color, or...
