Outstanding customer service! I called (Jeff) a couple of days ago regarding a rear hydraulic brake squeaking (Aventon Pace 500), I found him to be polite, very knowledgeable, patient, and with a helpful demeanor. I brought my bike in this am and was warmly greeted by (VJ). He was busy at the time repairing a bike, however, he offered to take a look at my bike for me. He proceeded to pull it into the repair bay, and went right to work on it. After some adjustments were made - problem resolved! Once again, I found VJ to be polite towards me, knowledgeable, and obviously very helpful! I was charged $15 (as Jeff suggested if the problem was minor) for his time and talent - what an “honest” price policy! Honesty and integrity are wonderful attributes to be found in any business. Main Street Bicycles exhibited this trait with me this morning!
I will inform my friends and neighbor, I highly recommend this bike shop! Please consider them for your needs as well.

Read moreThis is a great example of where a small shop outshines major retailers. I moved to East Dundee in 2012 and was amazed from my first stop in this shop. Jeff and every member of his staff that I've worked with have been amazingly knowledgeable. Twice now I've had them order less common items, both times they were happy to order the pieces and they came into the shop quickly.
From a cost stand point, they are no more expensive than other stores in the area for the quality of product they carry. If you are looking for a big box low quality bike, then yes Dick's Sporting Goods, Walmart, or Target might be a better choice, but if you are looking for a quality bike and a shop to support it down the road I strongly recommend Main Street Bicycles.
I haven't had to use their repair services yet, but I fully expect that side of the business to hold up the level of quality that the retail side has...
Read moreI won't ever shop here again.
I called to make sure that they had the part I needed. I then called again because I was running late with some construction and was going to show up within a minute of closing. When I arrived at 5:59 I then knocked for 5 minutes before someone came and told me they were closed. I said I know that is why I called ahead to make sure I could still just buy the one part I needed. The kids then told me that I would have to come back tomorrow. I told him that I would then never be coming back! I live 15-20 minutes from any bike shop. I called ahead because I didn't want to waste their time or mine. Well they could have told me 20 minutes previously that they would not take any customers right at 6pm and it would have saved me 40 minutes round trip and a whole night ruined!
I will take my business elsewhere where customers are better treated and more...
