Meadowdale Apartments — Local services in Dundee Township

Breaking the lease was completely justified. Let's start with the utilities, I swear it felt like we had no control over our heating and ventilation system. The water was most definitely not clean enough to drink, even after we put a filter on the tap. We paid the extra expenses of buying bottled water. The exhaust system in the bathroom brought in cigarette smoke from our downstairs neighbor, who should not have been smoking within the apartment in the first place. The management takes no steps to enforce rules. The handbook they give to new residents is a joke. Their "emergency" number goes to voicemail and their management office has the strangest hours! Even if you call during business hours, you'll most likely have to leave a message and they won't get back to you. They tacked us with a $100 billing charge when we moved out for not cleaning out the fridge. I would have gladly done so had I been informed! The laundry room heats up like a volcano so you can never stand inside the room while you're putting load in or switching one out. We also ended up going to a local laundromat which was another expense we should not have been paying for while living within these "luxury" apartments. I also don't understand how the management allowed these smoking, music blasting neighbors into this community. I was kept up most nights from their music and they had the audacity to turn their volume back up after we knocked on their door. The management did nothing about our complaints that the entire building could have backed up. Overall, horrible experience. Wouldn't be surprised if their own associates are leaving the 5...

Editing my review for more clarity on my gripes with this place.

This apartment complex will do anything to save a dollar, but nothing favorable for its tenants. The rent they charge is absurdly high for the quality of living this place provides.

The dumpsters are almost always overfilled with trash 3-4 days a week and I don't think there has been a single time (that I've noticed) in which they've called for an early pickup. There are several of them outside, so this is the first thing people see when they drive by, usually. The grass is mowed maybe once a month.

They will put off fixes for as long as possible. They recently inspected my apartment. The person that came in told me someone would be out to fix the issues (replace broken smoke alarm, broken faucet, broken balcony door) within a week. It took 3 before they replaced the broken faucet and broken smoke alarm, and they haven't even contacted us at all about the door.

The rules they have about visitors are absurd. They have a visitors parking lot but they'll still have those cars towed if you don't call in. And the tow service they "use" require you call in visitor/other cars BY 10, or they will tow the car. I've personally had my car towed by them after living here for more than a year, and I've spoken to other tenants who have also had their cars towed even when they called in.

The staff is pleasant enough to deal with, but you can tell management has no intention of making this a pleasant...

I have been living here for about two years now and I really have enjoyed my experience here a lot. I see a few reviews on here that are not fair to the complex at all. When you move into an apartment you don’t get to choose your neighbors and I don’t find bad neighbors to be the complex’s fault. With that being said my building is always clean (vaccuumed on mondays, semi annual bug check which is AWESOME thank you ) and every morning I see the workers cleaning the outsides of the complex. I love having grills and picnic tables scattered around the complex. And I always see kids enjoying the playground which is awesome if you have children. They also always keep the dog baggies stocked so you never step in dog poo even with all the dogs around. I’ve never had a problem with bugs in my apartment or smoke coming from neighbors apartments (unless my window is open and they are on their patio). The ladies at the front desk are always nice and happy to help you. I plan on staying here for a few more years. Thank you guys for providing affordable and clean apartments for me...
