Horsefly History & Ghost Tours — Local services in Durango

We cannot recommend this tour enough! I live locally and will definitely take it again.

My sister-in-law is on her annual visit from Berlin, Germany. She is a history buff so I thought she would enjoy a Horsefly History Tour. I have lived in Durango for 7 years and expected to pick up a few interesting historical "tidbits" along the way.

We were both completely blown away by this tour! It was an hour and a half of really fun learning and experience.

Our guide is a teacher at a local middle school. The depth of her understanding of the topic was clear. We did not get a bland recitation of a memorized speech. She had obviously read and studied broadly and taken the time to integrate and digest the information. This allowed her to present it in a way that was informative, captivating, thoughtful and, often, funny.

It was hotter than hell's inferno on the day we took the tour and one of our participants had just completed a challenging medical treatment. Our guide was thoughtful and responsive to the group's needs so we all stayed together and comfortable throughout the tour.

This ghost/history walking tour in Durango, Colorado was absolutely amazing!! My favorite ghost tour I have ever done!

I'm a Durango local and wanted to learn more about the tour and its spooky past, and I was so impressed with the amount of stories and information- and what better way to learn about it than at night, standing in the very place that the stories happened! This tour is awesome for locals and tourists alike, and is the only tour in Durango where you can go into the old tunnels under the historic district!

Some fun recommendations for those about to do the tour- bring a notebook to write down your favorite facts and stories, and go to the Animas History Museum before/after the tour! I did this, and it was fun to connect the stories from the tour to the facts and history I learned about at the museum.

I've heard all of the tour guides here are incredible, but wanted to post a quick shoutout to our guide. We had Nastasiya and she was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and kept the tour moving at a great pace. She also spoke very clearly and at a good volume for the whole group of all different ages to hear.

My husband and I attended the ghost tour tonight, and we were both so impressed with the tour. It’s obvious Lane has dedicated so much of her time to learning not only the history of Durango, but also interviewing and speaking with local business owners about their paranormal experiences as well. You can tell that this is something she is passionate about and that is conveyed through her story telling. Even if you’re not into the paranormal, this tour was packed full of incredible history.
