Before Emagine this was one of 2 Regal theaters in MN and it was my favorite. Came here all the time. Then my health deteriorated and the pandemic came and I found myself at the Emagine in Lakeville. I had become disheartened when Emagine stopped showing 3D movies; these were once in a movie’s lifetime event, especially because I didn’t buy a 3D Tv when I had the chance and now no one makes them anymore (even though you can still buy new Blu-ray movies in 3D!). So when Avatar 2 came out and they started showing 3D movies again, at least on 1 screen, I was elated. Fast forward to Super Mario Bros movie. Lakeville only has evening showings in 3D. I hate going at night. I’m an afternoon movie goer. Emagine Eagan has it at 2pm in 3D. Yay! Now I just need to remember to go soon because they won’t show it in 3D very long (at least previous movies haven’t lasted in 3D for more than 3 weeks, regardless of how long the 2D stays in theaters). I finally went Wednesday 4/19. The popcorn was stale. The real butter I asked them to put a lot on was almost non-existent. I get soda pop from the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. The best flavor in my opinion is Raspberry Coke. I swear the Coke was either Diet or the CO2 mixture was off because I couldn’t taste anything, there was a slight hint of raspberry, but raspberry CO2 isn’t good. I’d give my experience 3 stars but I have to commend the theater for having an afternoon 3D showing still going the 3rd week. I was one of 3 people in the theater. We all bought our tickets ahead of time (their seats were sold prior to my purchase is how I know). The theater doesn’t have any pre-show commercials (like F+C; Front+ Center, or I forget what other pre-shows are called). I don’t mean previews; they had those. Overall I was disappointed. This was the first movie I saw at this location since Emagine bought the building and refurbished the look. Unless Lakeville continues not to show afternoon 3D viewings, I probably won’t be back. I’m technically halfway between these two theaters. Update 7/10/2025 Is it possible this location gouges customers? I had a conversation at the Lakeville theater a few days ago with management because I noticed the front doors have no access for handicapped patrons to get in. That manager said he’d look into it but mentioned this location in Eagan does have handicapped accessible doors (I usually go to movies by myself and when my body deteriorates a little more I will be wheelchair bound). BUT I just noticed Eagan charges MORE for the same movie!! I looked up the 3D matinee (12:00) showing of Superman next week and Eagan charges $15.95, but at Lakeville theater cost in 3D matinee (2:00) is $11.95. That’s a $4 upcharge for the privilege of having...
Read moreI am a fan of the Emagine movie theaters. It's a neat and clean theater, well maintained. The theater lobby is very nice which is has one enters. They didn't have a ticket taker on duty. However, I appreciate it that a very patient employee stayed with me the entire time that I was using their ticket machine to help me in all the steps of that process: selecting the movie, choosing the seats, and making the purchase. He was very patient. They have a nice bar at the theater. The prices are a bit high but that's typical in a bar theater like that. However, on Tuesdays they do have specials. The concession stand seems fine, however, I'm not much into the concessions at movie theaters so I'm not a good judge on that. They have other specials also on Tuesdays as part of their loyalty program. You reserve your chosen seat when you buy your ticket and the movie seats are comfortable and fully automated. You can buy your movie tickets ahead of time but I don't do that. The restrooms are clean and the theaters are kept clean after each movie showing. A locally based well-known movie critic, Paul McGuire Grimes, sometimes hosts special showings of movies on Sunday afternoons. I haven't gone to one yet, but I would think he would give good commentary, I often hear his movie reviews on TV and the radio. He also has a website. The most recent special showing that he hosted was "Meet Me...
Read moreOut of all times I’ve been there it was never a good experience. Concession was rude, go to ask for another popcorn was told the stands closed. I wasn’t sure why this lady in the back had the audacity to yell at me and explain in anger that they are closed and they cannot ring up another popcorn when I wasn’t even mad… I think a little human decency was missing from her. I don’t usually care to leave reviews. But wow this place totally upset me… The axe throwing as well. Went go try out the axe throwing before then going to see a movie afterwards. Was told my a man whome was bald. That they don’t have any opening at the moment. Then goes to tell me to come back in 2hrs. He then starts walking away and so I asked him well aren’t you going to take down our names so we can be on the list? He then carelessly says “sure” we then already were frustrated by that encounter, but proceeded to leave and come back in 2hrs. 2hrs have gone by me and my lady come back to the axe throwing. Notice there were no workers near by we waited for a while then had this weird feeling that they were closed…we then saw on the web that they closed down at 8. Witch was exactly 2hrs from when we first went there. So this man told us to come back at closing time. It just...
