House of Gouda — Local services in Eau Claire

I walked in the store and asked it I could get a board, a sharp "No" was the answer. It was the day before Thanksgiving and she must have assumed I wanted it for Thanksgiving, well I didn't, but the sharp "No" made an impact on me. So, I went on to say for the day after Thanksgiving and she asked for what time? And I replied, 11:00. "No!". I suggested that she recommend a time because it seemed that all she could say was "No". So we went with her time and proceeded to pick out the items for the board.

When I went to pick up the board I noticed that the wrong chocolates were included and that the cheese was sliced very thick and uneven and because this I did not think it would serve the number of people I requested it for. Instead of fixing the board she just handed me a bag of the chocolates that were supposed to be on the board, so the presentation for our special occasion was not what I thought it would be, hence...

As a cheese-obsessed person, I cannot adequately describe my delight to be in such a wonderful store. I've had a smattering of Marieke Gouda's varieties over the years, and even online ordered a batch to Arizona several years ago, so it meant a lot to me to be at a prime source of such goodness. The prices are great, too, especially compared to ordering online or finding the cheeses at a higher-end grocery store! There's more than cheeses here as well. There are cheese-themed clothes, jams, crackers, tools, and some chocolates that look almost (almost!) too pretty to eat. There was a very nice woman working there, too, who clearly saw I was on a mission and gave me space to wander and gasp in delight. I left with a lot of cheese...

Stopped by to visit. The shop is cute with some knowledge and friendly team. We were able to sample some cheese, wine, and shop. The patio is a great place to sit back and relax. If you have younger kids you can walk by the cows. They also do guided tours on certain days, which we did not go on and they have a cute Cafe. Definitely stop in to stretch your legs and get some...
