Hair District Collective — Local services in Eden Prairie

NOT TRUSTWORTHY- I usually don't share negative reviews as I understand things happen but I'd like to share how disappointing my experience was with Hair District Collective Eden Prairie! There are certain things that are BASIC to your profession & negligence with that leads to customer dissatisfaction.

I called them around 3 weeks before my event to get an appointment for an updo. They asked me what I wanted & I very clearly described a Special Occasion updo with side braid etc (basically provided maximum details).They said had a stylist available & that they would like me to come in for a consultation on October 4th & booked my appointment for event date on October 7th (consultation is just to meet with stylist in advance, so things can be quick on The day)

When I walked in for my consultation appointment, the first thing this stylist says to me "Let me be honest with you, I don't really do updos, but I wanted to see what you want before I turn a service down” I mean... you either do updos or you don't. You don't wait until 3 days before someone's event to turn a service down (for something you knew you don't even do) when they can't find an appointment elsewhere!! clearly described what I wanted.

They said they don't have any other stylist available. It was 7pm on Wednesday & Saturdays are so busy for the salons! I was hosting an event at my place & didn't have flexibility on timing as much as well & had to check with multiple salons & everyone was full. I was lucky to find an appointment (not at my desired time) but we planned the day in a way that I could step out a little close to the event start time. If you don't have someone to do what the customer wants, Say No!!! What they did was absolutely opposite of what this industry should do. You clearly knew it was a special occasion appointment & what I needed. There was no reason for you to book my appointment if you didn't have the right person available.

If this was sickness or any other emergency, I totally understand but this was pure negligence. When I told what happened to the stylist who actually did my hair.. she said "That's absolutely bizarre & we never do that in our profession... if we are even slightly uncomfortable doing what the customer wants, we say No right away" I hope they take the feedback & correct this before it happens to anyone else!!

I unfortunately had a bad experience with Sarah J. I went to her to get balayage in my light brown hair - the process took over 3 hours, and by the end of it the top layer of my hair looked exactly the same color as I started with. I have thick hair, and it seemed like she was in a rush, putting a bunch of color in the under layer and almost none on the part of my hair that is visible. She also did a spotty application job even on the under layer (the photos attached are from 4 days after I got my hair done with her - it is patchy and looks like there is already root growth). As she was drying my hair, she gave me her card and told me to text her with any concerns. I texted the next day, saying I wanted more color along the top part - she responded telling me to wash my hair a few times. She then said she could get me in to fix it a MONTH later. I had to go spend another $200 with a different stylist to get it fixed, and when I asked for a partial refund, Sarah refused. She was nice, but I feel really let down by the results and her...

Hubs and I travel from KC to MN on the reg for work. Last trip up, I really needed my long hair trimmed and shaped a bit while I continued to grow it out. Found THD near my hotel and scheduled an appt. The salon is a beautiful space and everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. I landed with Amanda Evans on my first visit, and she was just great. Sweet, sweet girl, who knows a thing or 100 about hair and who is a true "hair artiste!" Loved the cut and style she gave me in March 2017. Fast forward to this week...and I now have long, thick hair, almost to my waist! It was time to get the style I'd been waiting for and I didn't hesitate to go back to Amanda. I showed her 10 Pins of long, layered hair (thank you Pinterest!) and she took her time reviewing and considering the photos, asking all the right questions and then worked her magic. This girl is awesome, folks! I'm over the moon with the cut she gave me. I will not hesitate to recommend her to colleagues in Eden Prairie and you should go...
