We had such a wonderful experience at the new Lava Island Kids Playground in Eden Prairie, and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the space felt bright, clean, and incredibly welcoming. The staff greeted us right away, explained how everything worked, and were friendly and attentive the entire time. It’s clear they care about creating a fun, safe environment for kids and parents.
The play structures themselves are amazing—huge, colorful, and thoughtfully designed for kids to climb, slide, jump, and explore for hours. There are so many different areas that kept my children engaged the entire visit. Everything is well-maintained, soft-surfaced, and secure, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while still letting them be adventurous and burn tons of energy.
I also really appreciated how clean the entire facility was. In a kids’ playground, that makes a huge difference. The staff was consistently walking around, checking things, tidying, and making sure everyone was safe and having a good time. The seating for parents was comfortable, and it was easy to keep an eye on the kids from almost anywhere.
Lava Island has definitely become one of our new favorite places. The combination of safety, cleanliness, and pure fun is unbeatable. If you’re looking for a place where your kids can play hard, be creative, and come home happily tired, this is absolutely the spot. We’ll...
Read moreI brought my 5yo and twin 3yos and they had a blast. I would love to go back, but I cannot justify the prices. They charge adults too, even if we aren’t “playing.” I’ve never been to a play place that charges adults just to supervise.
We paid $60 just for an hour. If we spent more time than an hour, it would have cost over $80. I have 5 kids, so if I brought my other two, it would have been over $140 including my husband.
To top it off, they don’t allow outside food which is a HUGE downfall. There are so many kids with allergies, dye-free and picky eaters, and they don’t serve those options. For kids who are playing for multiple hours, we should be able to have our own snacks when they get hungry. It feels forced to spend money on food. I had to leave early because the kids got hungry and I didn’t want to spend extra money on food. So admission fees (for my whole family) plus food, could have easily turned into over $200.
I don’t think I’ll be returning unless they have a deal or special which is super unfortunate because the kids had a blast. But I rather travel a little further for something...
Read moreNice clean facility, probably best for kids under 12 yrs of age. Seems like they are fully staffed, as there was very little wait time to enter. Make sure you have the waiver QR image for quick entry. Socks are $3.50/pair, and it seems you can bring your own grippy socks to save that cost. Whole Pizza $18) was burnt and bland, not much cheese. Rep said they are ironing out the kinks with oven & dough. After the food complaint, staff provided a replacement pizza. Water is $3 a bottle, so we chose to use the drinking fountain they’ve hidden back by bathrooms. Staff tries to stay on top of mean bully kids, but parents should watch kids closely as there were two young culprits there causing trouble- harassing/name calling & threatening several kids with physical violence. Glad they finally got kicked out by the manager. Our visit date was 11/15/25, so only their 2nd day open. We likely won’t go back due to the detours/distance (45 min) and pricing (no monthly or yearly memberships offered). It was $25.50 per kid for all day admission...
