My wife and I had a great anniversary date here a couple years ago, but this time left a sour taste in my mouth…

Positives: Food & Drink

Negatives: Sales pitch and Covid compliance

We ordered the Tuna Belly “appetizer” the bartender had described as one of the specials of the night. He said it was big enough to share between the two of us. Great!

Understatement of the year. It was big enough for 4-6 people. Plus, on what planet is an app $65? That’s the most expensive entree at a really good restaurant, never mind a casual dining establishment like this. Woulda been good info beforehand. It was still delicious. Obscene (though it is Edgartown), but delicious.

On top of that, the one waitress or hostess that wears her face mask like a chinstrap decided to have a convo with the dude next to me at the bar, therefore talking right on me from a foot away, both of them, maskless, while leaning on my chair and bumping to me multiple times, should I happen to decide to lean back in MY chair. I get I was at the bar so it might be crowded, but it’s also a pandemic.

Anyway, I’ll be sending them the bill for my respirator and Coronavirus treatment,...

Been going here for years. Summer 2023 is not their best season. It’s awkward, at best.

Do not bring people with food allergies here. Our celiac dinner guests called ahead and were assured there’s many options. Unfortunately, the small footprint kitchen means there’s high cross contamination for non-raw bar food. A $31 burger on a GF bun with no GF friendly side is borderline criminal. It’s not even a balanced meal. The “no substitutions” mentality should not apply to people with legitimate medical needs.

Timing of meal delivery was so-so for a group of 8. We had to wait for some time to have all plates on the table.

Waitress was more of a Toast POS ambassador than an actual customer service representative. She was very linear and would only take orders in a specific clockwise fashion. She didn’t prompt for refills until the entire table was empty. It was… odd. After two rounds, we stopped trying to order more drinks.

At $100+ head, it’s probably our last time coming here. Our memories are better than this season’s attempt. Maybe it’ll...

This place is clearly very popular because there was a queue outside the restaurant before it opened for 5:30 p.m. dinner service on a very rainy Saturday night. Once open, the restaurant quickly filled up with diners. Tables tend to be closer together because of how busy it gets, and there are a lot of hard surfaces, meaning things can get a little loud.

Service was the right level of attentive: staff were very friendly and they were good about clearing plates and utensils when it’s clear diners are done eating. The daily fish specials are posted on a chalkboard inside.

Overall, the food was very good. The buffalo brussel sprouts with whipped blue cheese were very good but for $18? Feels steep. My husband enjoyed his tuna, which was served like an elevated poke bowl and had Asian influences. I got the seared cut cod special, and enjoyed the sweet corn and mushroom risotto that came on the side: it was appropriately warm and cozy feeling for the rainy day, and brightened by the bursts of sweet freshness...

Had to eat here twice on our time on the island because we wanted our last dinner to be just as good as our first! 10/10 food. Everything we tried was incredible. Tried the two specials. Scallops and fluke as well as the corn side. Preparation was great, flavor wasn’t lacking. All dishes were 10/10. The second night my fluke specifically lacked as much sauce as I had the first but it was still very flavorful (posted both pictures and realized how much bigger the second fish was to the first night 😅) . The portions for the fluke are HUGE. You will not be disappointed eating here.

One of my favorite restaurants on Martha's Vineyard! My wife and I love the food. It's all pretty tasty. The apps are to die for and we have begun going and just ordering a slew of apps in place of entrees. If you go, definitely try the buffalo Brussels sprouts because they just plain don't get any better than that! Ambiance is upbeat and fun. It's often a little loud but if with a group you don't notice. The bartenders make a mean mocktail too! This restaurant is sorely missed during the winter months!
