I will start by saying the food is good, it was my second time eating here. I am a former restaurant owner and have family restaurant for 25 years plus. Last night we sat down and was served a bottle of “tap water” or so we thought. I took a big gulp and was so assaulted by the taste, it was one of the more terrifying things I have ever tasted… a cross between rotting fish and maybe cleaning detergent. I thought I had lost my mind and had my partner taste it. He had to run to the bathroom. We told the waiter and asked him to please taste it He removed it and he and the manager both tasted it behind the bar, I watched. The manager was so repulsed he spit it out and then back washed with what looked like his own personal water bottle. He never came over to the table to apologize or explain or see what he could do for us. The waiter came over and said he could not even describe what he tasted and how powerful and disgusting it was. He offered us nothing to clean our mouths, I had to ask him for something medicinal to swish around in our mouths. If we weren’t meeting my boyfriend’s family we would have left. The food was good. We ate and drank and really hoped we weren’t going to get sick from “The water” However what left an absolutely unforgettable taste in our mouths besides the poison water was when we received the bill, not one dish nor drink was complimentary. We paid a 400 dollars plus bill with no apologizes or explanations. When the manager of a restaurant has to spit out of his mouth something he felt comfortable serving to his diners at his restaurant, there is something really wrong. At least have some guts...
Read moreI don't have photos of our meal because we had such an amazing time, I forgot about my phone! Went to dinner last night at the Covington after making a reservation online a few hours before - I had requested a booth and when we arrived, that's where we sat. Our server Evan was FABULOUS. He knew the menu, the specials, and was very well versed in the cocktails. He checked on us just the right amount of times too - not too little, not too much. I asked for a mocktail and left it up to him, and I ended up with a creative, delightful drink!
Our dinner was also delicious, the Chef is incredible. The shared appetizers: babaganoush, whipped feta on house made English muffin, the spicy cucumbers - SO good. The entrees: spring lamb bucatini, arugula pesto campanelle (both pastas made in house) and my halibut with green faro and Meyer lemon beurre blanc were to die for. Dessert: gluten free chocolate cake with orange meringue and the second dessert was a divine coconut yogurt with fresh berries.
I can't recommend this place enough - for the food, the ambiance, the great service. A must! (actually found one photo on my phone, of the chocolate cake we ordered and they brought it with a candle for my friend's birthday...
Read moreLet me begin by saying the food was so yummy that we forget to take pics. We have the bread service and split a Caesar salad. The bread is made in house was absolutely the best light and fluffy I’ve had in forever. The Caesar salad wasn’t the typical Caesar. It was over the top better than any we’ve had. I had the Bolognese. Homemade pasta that is also made in house. So yummy. Hubby had the NY Strip (12 oz) with fingerling potatoes and broccolini. He ate every bite! 😳 he said the steak was cooked to perfection and the fingerling potatoes were crunchy and seasoned just right. Dessert was Honey Pie served with ice cream. It’s like pecan pie except with honey and almonds. So yummy. I cannot say enough about our service. We sat at the bar but we felt so welcomed. Our server Caitlin was amazing. She was so friendly and welcoming. She talked to us about the restaurant, the chef (his background is a baker, he’s been the chef for 5 years) and of course, the menu and our choices. The atmosphere was fun and lively. Would...
