My first visit with the intent to sell my clothes at Uptown Cheapskate was he 14th of October, 2022. My fob & I got there a couple of hours before closing with my sellables. Long story short, I took my clothes there to downsize in a hurry (not a good planner, trying to get better at that). After some brief discussion regarding the backup of other receptacles the staff had to go through before they could do mine, they made it a priority to tell me that I could leave my clothes box there, and if they had time and/or if we didn't mind waiting, they could probably get through it. And that really really meant a lot. They absolutely didn't have to do that, but they did. They got through to my items after about an hour, which is fine, because it meant quality QUALITY shopping time with my someone special. They called my name, sent me the text, sent me an email, all of those nice things when my service was ready. It was a pleasure and pleasant surprise how much they gave me for my clothes. I now I feel confident that I'll never sell my clothes anywhere else. The styles are so cute, my special person/fob loves the name Uptown Cheapskate, and it truly makes me happy to help local non-snooty businesses flourish. Again, I just absolutely love the concept. And truly, it goes both ways. Because the UCs were willing to come through SO CLUTCH-LY, I felt the prosperity (or I felt prosperous) as well! And now I already can't wait to go through more of my clothes to donate/sell so I can go...
Read moreI have NEVER been treated so unprofessionally by a business. I feel like I was bullied and discriminated against as an autistic customer from the assistant manager Carly telling me that my clothes I was attempting to sell were covered in pet hair and smelled like mildew (I took each item home in disbelief and checked them and they were all freshly laundered, as I had remembered) to the owner defending her employee without agreeing to look at the cleanliness of the clothes herself to her forcing me to verbatim (extremely difficult for a neurodivergent person to do) recite to her SEVERAL times what Carly said to me and tell me what she should train them to say instead IF it is true that someone's clothes have an odor and visible dirt (social skill deficits are a main diagnosis criteria for austim). I told her I was unable fulfill her demand and not responsible to bear the weight as the customer who was mistreated and inconvenienced to resolve the issue and wanted to know that if I went back, I would not have the same experience. I wanted to know that her assistant manager would be reprimanded for being mean to a customer and that someone in a higher position would treat me more fairly and take another look at my clothes. Instead, the owner told me we are not a good fit and not to bring my...
Read moreFirst of all, I have shopped here many times and been very satisfied as a customer. I think they have an excellent selection of items at fair prices. Which is why I was excited to go through my closet and bring some of my own items here to sell. I was extremely disappointed when I waited almost 2 hours for them to go through my things, just to select one item.
The one item selected as a dark blue Old Navy polo style shirt, which makes it even more shocking that they did not take the following items from the same assortment:
American eagle pick button down (size small) 2 Cremieux button downs (size medium) 2 Ralph Lauren Polo button downs (size large) 2 Van Heusen button downs (size small)
These were the items I was sure would be taken, however there were other lesser known brands in the assortment I feel are still on par with the kinds of things I see sold in store. It was a frustrating experience as it takes time to sort through things and bring them in and wait. I still don’t understand how they get some of the items in store having passed over the items I listed above. I will continue to be a customer, but where the items I am buying come from is now a...
