Oh man... I am not one to leave negative reviews, especially because I grew up in Edmonds and have shopped at Burlington for almost a decade. The store has great deals, is spacious, and can be fun to shop in depending on who's working. However, after my last experience there, I can say I now believe there needs to be a serious overhaul in management to make this store tolerable time for anyone.
Last night around 8PM I went in for a nice trip. There is one particular fitting room attendent who is quite... Intense. Granted I'm sure the job is not a fun one, but this one woman shoots death glares at anyone entering the rooms... Like we're either going to steal or leave a heap of shambled clothing for her to pick up in a sad corner under the glare of flourescent lights.
That's unpleasant enough, but the check out I had at the cash register was stomach turning. Waiting in an extremely short line is no big deal, until a customer shoots past right up to the register. In no mood to begin a confrontation, I said nothing, and the employee (and manager behind the counter) said nothing.
When I got to the front, I gently informed the attendent that one pair of underwear (embarrassing enough to bring up) was mis-marked because it was missing 2 out of 3 pairs in the pack. I wanted them, but they were over priced without all the pairs there. The manager behind the counter stormed up. He proceeded to condescendingly tell me that I was wrong for requesting the price adjustment. Mind you, the poor attendent and I were squirming with awkward discomfort.
The man verbally repremanding me had done nothing but play with a hanger and glare up until now, even when someone cut in line earlier. I'm not sure why he was there. Retail jobs are genuinely hard, I know, I've worked them as should everybody at some point to truly understand the misery. But this behavior went beyond anything I've gone through before as a consumer... I do not say these things lightly. Looking out for customers is such a huge part of the job!
I ended up not wanting the purchase anymore. My heart was racing and adrenaline surging and I bit my tongue for both my sake and the sake of the cashier. If all this wasn't awkward enough, the register had some sort of malfunction and I stood there in misery for a couppe of items for over five minutes.
To save the day, the manager proceeded to "fix" the register by cursing at it under his breath. "Oh come on" he exclaimed bitterly. How helpful.
People, shop somewhere else unless you're looking to be mildly traumatized where you spend your hard earned money and avoid encountering some of the most difficult personalities in customer service...
Read moreI went into this Burlington Earlier today and had probably the worst experience at a store probably ever. I went to try on some clothes and the lady that gives you a fitting room had a terrible attitude because i didn't bring the hangers with my clothes. There is no sign anywhere that said to bring the hangers so i didn't it was easier for me to leave them. She tells me that when i am done to bring the pants back to where i got them from which wouldn't have been a big deal if she could have asked nicely. After all it is there job to put the clothes away. (Maybe find another job if you don't like it). So i try my clothes on take the ones i don't like back to where i got them. I walk around with my friend and realize i need some dress pants. So i go get 2 that i want and instead of going to that same fitting room i go to the other one. My friend and i stand there and the lady comes around the corner and just stares at us so my friend asks if i can get a room. The lady looks at us and says "Not together". I am standing there with pants in my hand obviously i'm looking to try them on not to do some funny business in a fitting room. So we explain that i am trying to try the pants on (what you are suppose to do in a fitting room) and she finally brightens up and lets me go but not before she points out that i don't have the hangers and makes a huge fuss about how she has to put them back (once again it is her job) i even tell her i can put them back myself. She also points out that there are women in a different fitting room and promptly tells me not to mess with them.... umm i just want to try stuff on and i am being treated like a criminal. So i go in and as i am trying the pants on i over hear her talking to a different customer saying how she wasn't sure what i wanted when she came around the corner and says she just wants me to hurry up and get out and hopes i don't mess with the other ladies. So i get fed up i don't try on the second pair and i walk out and hand her the pants she stands there and counts out loud "1 2" as if she was making sure i didn't steal one of them. REALLY! I do not recommend going here if you want to enjoy a...
Read moreshopped real regularly at this spot. That is until i arrived one evening at about 946pm and was told i could not go in they close at 10 by the security guy in the wheel chair out front. I was a little perturbed but kept it civil . As i drove home i wanted to call and speak to a manager so i wenr online and then discovered they acrually are open til 1030pm. So i call and am handed over to someone saying they are the manager. I explain and he acts super concerned says hell have a word with dude out front. I say ok ill head back he says cool. I get back there and dude in the chair wheels his self through the doors and locks them as we approach. I call the phone again no answer. Ive been shopping here for close to 40 years and when we go there i spend a minimum of 350- 400 bucks. And now because dude wants to go home early , then play games on the phone i will take my business to the new location by alderwood mall , and to other like retailers in the area. I hope other people s t and up and voice their disapproval of the practices at the edmonds location . I know if i was an owner i sure as heck wouldnt want a customer like me walking away dissappointed. 3500-4000 a year going bye bye , not a good thing.smh......to be clear this is the store im...
