I have never been profiled before in my whole life. Me, my cousin, my six-year-old niece and a family friend (4 people total) were asked to leave the premises after being told by a policeman that all the employees felt uncomfortable by our presence at the store. We were initially confused so asked for clarification as to why we were being asked to leave and were then told it was because we were in a larger group (shopping) and appeared to be huddled together and they were suspicious we were shoplifters. Trying to solve it without further exaggerated efforts from the employees I said if it would make them feel better they could search our bags to clear up the misunderstanding. But that solution was rejected and I was told we looked as though we were going to shoplift and our presence alone just made them uncomfortable and to again - leave the store. Having filled 2 cart fulls worth of items between the 3 of us who were adult and 1 child - I was really confused how we were going to steal any or all those things. We weren't even allowed to finish shopping OR to even walk to checkout. We weren't given a chance to incriminate ourselves. We didn't do anything incriminating. I was very disappointed and embarrassed. This was done in front of all the other shoppers. Not once were we approached by any employee before the cop arrived during our shopping experience so it was out no where and shocking. We were told we cannot come back for a whole month and if we do we will be arrested. I have never been made to feel so criminal for doing nothing except being willing to spend over 200 dollars worth of items at a store that will ban you for shoping with 3 other people who are literally family or maybe because you look a certain way. I know today was a bad hair day but damn. I came to shop here after work I looked a bit disheveled Im sure. I carry a cute totoro backpack instead of a purse and thought maybe that was why but they refused to search it and wouldnt even let me purchase anything it was just so bizarre. Not to mention my 6 year old niece was confused by the whole incident and asked the officer and the manager please search our bags so we can finish shopping. I'm really bummed all the items I got will probably not be there next month. There was cute Frida k. Kitchenware. To say I'm bummed is an understatement. My thoughts lean towards my outward appearance being the cause of being banned midshopping - we did nothing else that I was told nor that I can think of that made our presence so unbearable that a policeman had to get involved and like I said I offered them to search us so we could at least finish shipping. I'm...
Read moreI was very disappointed when my retired 66 year old Mother came home today upset after returning from Grocery Outlet. She just moved to Ellensburg and always shopped at Grocery Outlet on the West Side. I talked about how friendly the folks are here at the local stores, the community is amazing! The young man checking her out today was disrespectful, condescending and had no customer service skills whatsoever. I completely understand we all have days where we don’t want to go to work or interact with people. That is still not acceptable and if working with the public is not something you’ve got a knack for I would highly recommend finding another job where interacting with individuals is at a bare minimum. Just having a more acceptable level of communication or behavior would suffice no problem. Not sticking your hand out ushering her to give up her 1.00 that she was short or saying out loud that obviously she doesn’t have enough money while a whole line of people are behind her is something I hope no one ever does to you or your Mother. I’ve worked in customer service for over 13 years and I can promise you, this is not customer service no matter if your a cashier, broker, hotel manager or anything else where you are selling products to customers. My mom may have not said anything but I...
Read moreOne of my new favorite grocers-wish they had these in Montana.
A surprisingly good selection of items, including a good selection of unique and organic food and a lot of quality foreign made products (and not just China otherwise I'd be panning the place).
Not only do they have a decent selection of some organic stuff, but it's about half the price at your regular grocer.
The only thing that wasn't great after purchasing food at a half dozen different grocery outlets was a bag of organic apples, as some were a little soft, but still perfectly edible.
It's nice they have great prices on essentials you might need like band aids, alcohol wipes, etc.
Grocery outlets in my short experience are kind of like a combination of a normal small grocer, Aldi, and a dollar store but they're not filled with just mostly Chinese junk like the dollar store.
I love that you can find a cheap kombucha at anyone, cheap grass fed yogurt and not get gouged when purchasing ice (f u Safeway and Albertsons).
You literally pay half the price here that you would at Albertsons or Safeway, and you might have a quarter of the selection,.but most everything they have in the here is something you might want and you don't curse aloud when you look at some of the prices here like you would at those other two...
