Until recently I had received excellent service, even courtesy and kindness, at the UPS Store of Ellensburg WA 98926. Yesterday I met Maggie Townsend the manager who failed to scan one of my Amazon returns carefully bagged and brought to her about 2pm on August.16.2025. The pair of jeans cost over $60 and although I saw them being scanned and accepted, the scan does not show with Amazon. Therefore Maggie may have cost me $60.27. Maggie confided in me that she does not like all of the customers and her partner who is a nurse has helped her deal with difficult people who make her sick. Maggie confided, in me, by stating "some people can just make you sick." I empathized with Maggie that may be true. I did not know Maggie was being passive aggressive against me. I left the store after completing that set of returns. When I returned I waited quite a while while Maggie completed many tasks. She called another employee to help her. I continued waiting. Another customer came in, a man, surged forward as though he was next. But he was after me. I am a cancer patient, am recovering from joint replacement in my hand and wrist, and I am 70 years old. I said "I am next" when Maggie said to me very sternly and loudly "No, you go to Annika!" Annika was the other employee present and she was busy for 15 minutes with one customer. Manager Maggie Townsend took 7 more customers (each of the 8 came in after me) while I continued waiting and being denied service. Therefore in summary, Maggie took 8 customers, all of whom arrived after me, all the while denying me service. I said nothing offensive. I did nothing offensive. Rather I was singled out as a bad customer by Maggie Townsend. My edits are for correction of typos and improving clarification.
Additional information: certain clothing items were inside the very thin paper mailers sent by Amazon in order to help protect the garments. Fiercely Maggie ripped those thin envelopes off of the merchandise angrily. Sadly my name and address could have helped in the event of UPS realizing they had no label for the jeans which were improperly scanned. My name, address and phone number are in the UPS system. Had Maggie not removed that super light, thin mailer from the jeans, she could have phoned me to come return next day for her to re-scan the code. Yes, I would have made the 52 RT mile trip to provide the code, or I would have emailed the code to...

Read moreMy past experience has been really positive at the Ellensburg UPS store. Local friends and family are usual surprised when I say this because they've had problems in the past. Not me! It's always been great. Until recently. I had a disappointing customer service experience with the manager today, and I feel there was absolutely no reason to have been treated so poorly. I am going to talk to the owner tomorrow and will give them a second chance. Otherwise, I will consider moving my mailbox to the PO, which says a lot! Hopefully, this was a one-off. I was very surprised at today's very unnecessary deliberate poor service. So, 4 stars for now based on past experiences, and TBD if 5 depending on tomorrow's encounter. Everybody gets a pass on one bad day! I'll report back.
ADDENDUM: 7/15 1:30 PM. Appeared in person, rep went to the back to get Owner, came out and said she "wasn't available." I left my name and number. Manager was there working and her customer was not happy with whatever was taking place at that time. Seems quality of the business is going down the tubes as others had suggested to me. I'll report back.
ADDENDUM 7/21 I spoke with the Owner over the phone and she was an excellent listener and communicator. She validated me, accepted responsibility, and handled the situation very professionally. As a small town business owner, I commend her professionally and personally. I am amending my star rating back to 5 stars and will continue my business at the Eburg UPS store. I encourage others to support this business, as this was just a one-off, and we all have those. It's how it is handled that matters. This was...
