If I could give zero stars, I would. I went in to do some shopping and noticed a lot of clearance items. While picking things out, some items were on clearance and others weren’t, which is completely normal. However, when we went to check out, the cashier took some of our items to the back to “verify” them. When she returned, she insinuated that we had switched the tags and claimed the items were mismarked, saying they couldn’t sell them at that price.
I asked how this was our fault, and instead of explaining calmly, she started raising her voice. Then she proceeded to check every clearance item we had, as if we were being dishonest. When I questioned why she was doing this, another employee, who happened to be white, came over yelling that it was “her job.”
I’ve been a loyal customer here for years, and this has never happened to me before. No other cashiers were checking tags for anyone else, and we were the only Hispanic customers in the store at that moment. The entire experience felt discriminatory and humiliating.
What made it worse is that the first cashier initially spoke to us in Spanish, but once the other employee came over, she acted like she didn’t understand Spanish and started yelling at us in English. Both employees were incredibly rude, unprofessional, and, frankly, racist.
We had a cart full of items to purchase, but after being treated this way, we left everything and walked out. This store used to be one of our favorite Marshalls locations, but after this experience of racial profiling, we will never...
Read moreI came in to see if I could get a different shirt or return it on a shirt I purchased in Manchester the day before. The lady behind the register who took the shirt in the mean time left and didn’t communicate with anyone about it. When I came back up with a similar shirt and explained the situation the gentleman went over and grabbed the shirt looking at me like I was lying and charged me for the shirt( it was more than obvious he hates his job) even though he gave me back my shirt with my other items and original receipt and new receipt. He kept the new shirt and when I asked to have the other shirt as well he got annoyed and rang it up. At that point I knew he just wasn’t going to get it and accepted my defeat….I paid twice for a shirt with a hold and given an attitude when I wanted the second shirt. I have all 3 receipts now and the best part is it was my birthday so hey thanks for the warm wishes Marshalls of...
Read moreI just left the store and I am in complete shock that some of the employees here are extremely rude and have no customer service manners . I have been to every home goods tj Max and marshals store you can imagine in the state of Connecticut and not once have I ever had my items counted before and after leaving a dressing room and I asked was this policy because again never had my items counted AFTER the lady insisted I hang them up so that she could see . I had no purse no bag and spend a lot of money here very often and that was the first time I was ever asked that . No one wants to feel uncomfortable shopping or racially profiled .
