I always feel like I must be cheating when I fill my Aldi's car ($.25 refundable when you return the cart), and the tab is something like $45.00--which at any other grocery, including Costco wholesale warehouse, would be at least double.
Cost isn't everything, so I also appreciate the fresh produce, the wide variety of meats, including grass-fed beef, affordable organic chicken, and dairy (like half & half cheaper than Costco), and the frozen fish (which I’m sure is purchased from the same source as Aldi's brother store--Trader Joe's), like wild salmon and ahi tuna. I love the European chocolate variety as well.
If I have any complaints they are: not everything is always in stock. We had a week or so without celery. AND, my #1 complaint everywhere is Canola and other toxic seed and “vegetable oils in almost all packaged foods. I wish I could get the cashews and mixed nuts without Canola. These are BAD oils, super hydrogenated to kill the hexane used to extract oil from the rapeseed and the Round Up residue, in Canola and soy, especially. Monsanto doesn't care. But, we should! These oils literally fry your cells, attack your organs, and prevent your brain from receiving anti-oxidants. There’s even more damage, if you Read Dr. CaCatherine Shanahan’s Deep Nutrition, and I’m pretty sure you’ll want to avoid these killers.
That said, I am an Aldi's fan for...
Read moreNot a bad place to shop, even Walmart can't beat some of their prices; If you only shop name brands, this is not the store for you. I wish they sold smaller sizes of milk and idk what it is about the produce here, but it looks ok when you buy it, but then it tends to spoil quickly after you bring it home. The pre-made salad I bought here spoiled in two days, the lettuce was rotted. Most of their pre-sliced deli meats are also cut too thick for my taste. They don't have a deli counter. Meat here however is good value for the price, quality even comparable with Big Y. Grocery items can be hard to find sometimes, cause it changes every week, but I found most of what I was looking for, even if it was all "off brands". I now do most of my shopping here, but have to go to other stores for fresh produce and cat food. The cart thing is understandable, but sometimes the cashier switches my cart and I lose 25 cents cause the one they give me doesn't have a quarter in it; When that happens, I purposely leave it in the...
Read moreI have been shopping at this location for 2 years now and today about 15 min ago while checking out with my reusable bag the cashier asked if I had paid for the bag. It is an old Aldi reusable bag that I have been using for a long time and this is the first time I have been asked this. I clearly just took out my groceries from the bag before placing the items on the counter! What is the purpose of a reusable bag if your cashiers are going to demean customers by asking if they had paid for the bag that they had just used throughout the store?? I really hope this was not a racial bias deep seated into the fact that she assumed I looked like I cannot afford to pay for a reusable bag. Do better Aldi and show better customer service if you want to respect the environment and allow people to use your...
