We tried returning an item bought at the Valley River store in Eugene OR that was purchased over the holidays and the transaction failed on the Visa machine for some unknown reason ( the card worked just moments before at another store) . Regardless, we had a store receipt for the item but the clerk refused to return the item for cash or even store credit and became agitated when we questioned the store policy for returns. She accused us of harassing her and told us to āget out of the storeā or she would call security! We asked her to call security because we were confused why this had escalated to this level. She pretended to call but didnāt. We asked to speak with the manager but she wouldnāt let us speak to her. She said she called the manager and was told there was nothing she could do for us. Our argument was we had a receipt and that legitimized our request for a refund regardless of how the item was paid for initially. What if we had lost our Visa card or the item was given as a gift? What shocked us was the hostility of the clerk and the unwillingness to treat us with respect and as honorable customers. Maybe she was having a bad day as she complained of being the only one working that day. However, there was no excuse for her behavior. She claimed to be a manager in training. If this is the quality of person chosen to be management material then we wonāt ever shop at Windsor again. There were quite a few people shopping and thankfully they have a lot of fittings rooms. Found the dress and shoes within half an hour and went to check out. This is where they lack, it appears only two people were working, one as a cashier and one putting dresses back in the racks. The person in front of me needed to special order a dress and the computer was being difficult, my daughter and I waited next in line. After 15 minutes of difficulty, the cashier never acknowledged anyone that was in line(now at least seven people are waiting) the other employee nowhere to be found. My daughter finally begged that we just come back another day to get the dress and shoes and even though I warned her we could risk it not being there should we leave now, she still wanted to leave.
