I took my daughter here for student orientation. Neither one of us had ever been to Wright State Campus before. She was very nervous (& very excited). I think she's more nervous about starting a new chapter in life than going to the campus. She had read the it wasn't a very visually appealing campus, but I told her I didn't believe that & don't always believe what she hears & reads. But when we got there the campus was just absolutely beautiful! She & I both fell in love with it. Not only was it beautiful but the staff & student volunteers/workers was very knowledgeable, helpful & caring. They ALL the students, the staff & the faculty genuinely seemed like they cared about the new students that will be starting in the fall. They have so many programs & clubs for students. They also offer a tremendous amount of support for students that may have a lot of anxiety about their next step in life. The support is not just for the new students it's for all of their students. I even think they may have support for the students family that may have a difficult time in this next step as well (don't quote me on that though, I'm not 100% on that). Of course with our kids being 18y (adults as they say) they have to sign a form giving the school permission to talk to certain family members about their grades, finances & anything else that may be needed to be discussed. I did get the info I needed to help my daughter to get started. There was even a time I had to hang back & ask a few questions after the group I was in moved on. Got the info I needed, but the whole group had moved on through the underground tunnels at the university that are well lit, air conditioned & heated in the winter & I had no idea which way they went. After a few minutes 1 of the student volunteers that was leading the families to each meeting actually came back to find me & take me to where everyone else was & I'll tell you it's not like each group was only 10 or 15 family members. There was a lot of us. I just thought with some many new students & family members & she came back to find me & make sure I got to where I needed to go to that was (to me) incredible! I only wish I remembered her name, I only remember she was wearing a pretty white sweater(even though to me it was very hot, but I am ALWAYS burning up). The University even offers like a 5 day or so camp of sorts for students before classes start in the fall so they can meet their new peers. I felt that everyone from the faculty to the students genuinely cares about the new students & their families. I feel my daughter has picked an amazing university to attend & to study psychology. I may not be ready for my baby girl to be a college student yet & probably never will be, but I feel Wright State University is going to be absolutely wonderful for her! Weather I'm ready or not my baby girl is a college student! At least I still have a few more years to have my youngest baby girl with us before she starts to train for her career choice as a paramedic(😃🥴😳). I get to hold on to them both for a few more years my college girl has decided to stay home for a few years while she goes to school, thank God above for that decision! God has blessed us/me in so many ways. Thank you God for my beautiful children & grandchildren, a loving & wonderful husband please continue to watch over us & watch over our country & this amazing world you have created...
Read moreWright State University is an amazing school with many ops for meeting people from not only Ohio, but because it has a robust LEAP (Learning English for Academic Purposes) program, all over the world. The Stident Union houses many student centered services such as the tuittion (Raider Connect) scholarship dpt as well as the bookstore and meeting rooms where I've attended breakouts with moderately sized venue events. The campus is busy with students and faculty and beautiful. Parking is by permit only, however, to the left side of the main entrance, Parking Services has a booth and special lot for guest parking. Be sure to obtain permits or to park appropriately as the Campus Police/Security monitor the campus closely, so tickets are issued. Student Union faces Col Glenn Hwy and is the front facing building of a mod sized campus built in a square configuration with a court yard at center of all the academic buildings. Be prepared to walk some with a bag to haul around for classes. Each building has elevators and...
Read moreThis review is for the student union buffet. I normally love buffets, but there's a reason it's so cheap. They always have the same few things over and over, with just a few things changing. Burgers, fries, pizza is all you'll get for lunch and supper. Sometimes there are other things to eat. The only good thing is they sometimes have a variety of deserts. They often have charge you full price for re-entry, even though they say you can come back for seconds for free. I show them my card and receipt in the reentry line and they refuse to refund me when I catch them charging me again. Bad experience, mid food, and they're often even out of the things they're supposed to have....
