This was our (family of 6) first time going to this specific Market Basket and was impressed with the selection and cleanliness. Unfortunately the isles are more narrow than a typical grocery store which in and of itself is not an issue, but the employees taking up most of the isle with boxes of product they are trying to restock the shelves with were rude as they had to keep moving out of the way for customers to go by in both directions of travel down the isle. Happened in no less than 7 (yes seven) isles of aggravated employees moving out of the way with there ladder for multiple customers. Mind you each isle is a little bigger than 2 shopping carts wide. My wife actually noticed most of what they were restocking was already full (like more than plenty for the day) on the shelf and could of waited to closing. We spent about $325, but between having to either politely ask an employee to move or to turn around and slowly make our way back the way we came stuck behind other customers, I'm not sure it's a place we will do our everyday shopping at and just go in to get a few of the items we enjoyed that we can't find elsewhere (that we know of/noticed). When it came time to cash out the bagger seemed to have no training as some bags had 1 yogurt in it, 1 bag of popcorn, too many packages of meat with 4 candy push pops in it while another bag had way too many cans etc etc. All of which were just put in the shopping cart onto of eachother. I was amazed the eggs weren't broken being crushed with all the other groceries. Can't say the same for the sliced bread or rolls which were both squashed (rolls were still salvagable though) along with the sliced cheese which was smashed under cans. There were more jugs of juice and gallons of milk on top than anything else. Didn't realize it till we got to the truck and started transferring it in. Haven't gone back to give a second chance yet, but will as everyone deserves one....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this store but I will not shop here for meat anymore. When beef got so expensive (understanding this is not MB fault) I pretty much only buy/eat chicken now. I donāt eat pork, and lamb and veal are too expensive. I do not buy MB brand chicken because I found it was so āplumpedā, or injected with water, that I couldnāt brown or bake it without it boiling in its own water and ruining it. I was only buying Springer and Bell & Evans. The prices of those keep going up and up, but I bought them anyway since there was nothing left. The last time I bought Springer boneless chicken breasts they were completely different than before. They were trimmed differently. There was a lot of fat and some bone pieces. I get that thatās Springers fault, but I started buying mostly Bell & Evans. It is very expensive. The other day I noticed there were a lot labeled āManagerās specialā. I know enough to stay away from that so I purposefully looked for a package that didnāt have that label. That day was April 28. The sell by date was April 30. It was refrigerated as soon as I got home which was only a few minutes away. I opened the package on April 29 and it was completely rotten. The smell was horrible. I spend the most for the best and thatās a lot for it to end up in the garbage. I realize there are issues right now with food cost and availability, but this is totally unacceptable. I will look into local meat markets and farm produce...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped in to grab a few things today (not my regular grocery store but i frequent other market basket locations) I went to the express lanes noticing a sign saying 20 items or less so I proceeded to those registers. The first cashier told me the lane further down was open so I walked over and started putting my items on the belt. Robin S did not even say hello or greet me at all, after I put a few items on the belt she rudely said to me "just so you know, you're well over the 12 item limit" I quickly looked up at the signs and noticed there was a 20 items or less AND a 12 items or less lane. I quickly apologized and told her I didn't realize one sign said 12 and the other said 20 and once again said I was sorry. She huffed and rolled her eyes. I tried to ask If she had a hand scanner for the MINI sprite 12 pack I was buying and she responded "no just put it down" like I was a child. I tried to quickly grab my bags to make more room for her, she roughly threw the rest of my bags on the counter (including the bag of eggs). As someone who struggles with dyslexia and has worked in customer service, this was a completely ignorant way to handle a simple mistake that I apologized twice for. I hope you have the day you...
