I love shopping at Sephora in general, specifically this location because itâs convenient from where I live. I understand being a African American woman living in a not so diverse place such as Utah (against my will, Iâm in the military) makes it harder to get a solid color match unless the associate is well versed in different shades. I came in asking for a color match from Haus Lab and explained I already have a bottle but the color comes off orange and is a slight shade darker from my actual skin tone. I believe her name is Shaina, Shakinna, brought me over to the Haus lab section and already seemed bothered to be helping. I told her my situation, and she repeatedly stated âYouâre in the darker range, we shouldnât go lightâ⌠well of course I know my skin color, I have a lighter complexion so I stray from darker tones in the winter because one, it doesnât match, and two I donât want a foundation thats dark and I wipe it off at the end of the day and Iâm two shades lighter. Unbeknownst to a lot of people, some black people in the winter get pale and in the summer, tan easilyâŚlike myself. I tried her 3 so called shades that were in fact dark, I then tried the 2 shades I originally wanted (by myself because after dropping them off she walked away and made me match myself) somehow they looked better than the ones she suggested. I got my samples and went off to try lys because Iâve heard great things. Also while she was aimlessly hawked my every move. I did noticed that all the shades out as testers were every lighter shade you could imagine while all the darker shades were hidden behind a huge box. I went over and asked an associate named Ashley if I could try the darker shades and explained they were all hidden and the only options open were light shades. She was absolutely amazing and more than willing to help, she opened all the shades I wanted to try and did not make me feel like an outcast like the previous associate did. She also requested another container to have ALL the shades out. She was lovely. I say all this to say, a beauty store should be inclusive. Associates should not borderline argue with you about skin tones when weâve lived in it our entire lives. Learn more about shades and undertones, itâs hard enough finding shades as a black woman so make the experience not so much of a hassle or blatantly...
Read moreI walked in and walked around for over 5 minutes. When I walked in, no one said hi how are you? Can I help you? There was one lady helping a person on a tablet. Another lady was having what seemed to be a personal conversation about her dad and brother. And then someone at the cash register, not ringing up anyone just standing there looking down Iâm assuming on their phone. Finally, I open the drawer on the bottom to start grabbing what I came for. And then a woman comes up to me and says can I help you like in a disapproving voice because I opened the drawer. I told her yes I want to buy a few things and Iâve been waiting and no oneâs coming to help me. She says oh sorry weâre a little shorthanded. Thatâs not what I saw what I saw with people doing whatever they felt like. She appeared to be the only one actually helping somebody.
After that, she said oh somebodyâs gonna be here to help you really shortly so I waited a few more minutes and finally the girl came. The girl was really friendly and helpful.
However, when Iâm walking into Sephora, a luxury beauty store I expect better service. At least someone couldâve made eye contact, said hi we will be right with you when I walked in. I didnât even get a look my direction. It was like I didnât even exist. I wonât be visiting the store again...
Read moreI came into this location today only looking for a mascara. When I came into the store, the ladies were nice ask me how I was, and if they could do anything to help me, very typical stuff. But after about 5 to 10 minutes of being there, I have been asked 4 different times by some of the workers if there was anything they can do to help me. Then this lady came over to me she was trying to hand me a bag and I told her I didnât need one because I only had one item. When I told her no, I didnât need one. She got all flustered and tried forcing me take the bag. Then I noticed the employees were stocking me throughout my entire visit. When my friend came back over to me the same lady tried handing me a bag again. She said her name is Cassie and asked for our names. While she was handing me the bag. I understand shoplifting is a problem, but I hate that we are being characterized as shoplifters the moment we walk in just because I am a young adult. I am being targeted because of my age and that is not a okay. It literally made me feel so uncomfortable that I donât wanna ever return to this location. They were out right disrespectful and rude. Not to mention their try me display was...
