I wish there was the ability to leave multiple star ratings, because I give these guys 5 Stars on their food. I'll start with the reason I'm docking one star, and then I'll end on a positive note about why I like this place so much. So the 4 Star rating is for two reasons. First because the way the interior is designed it doesn't absorb a lot of sound, and so if it's at all busy, it can be hard to hear each other. Several times that I've been there it was a little problematic to carry on a conversation. The second is that on a few occasions they were so busy that the service suffered. This can happen anywhere, so I understand it's not unique, but it's been more than once or twice. Having said all that, I LOVE their food. These guys do a top notch job making Sushi. My personal favorite is a newer item on the menu called Big Mike. The way to remember it when you go is to ask the server if It has a Jalapeno with a thin slice of Lemon on top. That's the one! So good. I also really like the Vegas Roll, Volcano, Spicy Crunchy Roll and there's one that is "off menu" worth getting called "Hot Dog". The idea here being that there are a number of things in it...like a hot dog - get it? =) Overall, I think Sushi Monster is a nicer setting and ambiance than say for example Osaka in Layton. The Sushi is on par with them. They are both good, so it's just preference. It's also a plus that it's at Farmington Station so you can stroll around all the little shops, see a movie etc. Oh also they have a desert that is KILLER. I don't recall the exact name but it's a Fried Ice Cream dish. If you have room after some Sushi, you can't go wrong with this.

sushi monster is a classic place to get a quick bite with friends. we (group of 4) came into the restaurant at 4:00 and were seated immediately. i got two orders of nigiri for a total of two sweet egg nigiri and two salmon nigiri. the salmon nigiri was fine- the salmon itself was chewy and room temperature which made for a rather unpleasant eating experience and I could only eat one piece. the sweet egg, however, was delicious! it was cool (in temperature, that is) and a perfect amount of sweetness that didn’t overwhelm my palette. if you’re coming here, be sure to ask for a cup of miso soup- complementary upon request! the service was wonderful- we were being attended to in a way that was constant but not in a manner that was too intense. overall, a good spot to hit if you’re craving a good quick and easy bite, but not the spot to hit if you want sushi that’ll make you go “wow”.

This restaurant sucks! Service is typically slow. First, the table that was sat after us, had been served and all, the waitress had asked them twice if their food was okay so are the other tables that she has waited. We've been sitting for 20 minutes and yet, no waitress came to take our orders. Hungry and pissed, I went to the counter and asked for a waitress. 10 minutes later, finally she came and took our orders. 10 minutes again later we were finally served with our water and she forgot my daughter's juice and the other waitress brought to us 5 minutes later. 20 minutes later, she brought over my friend's salad, 7 minutes later she came back so I asked where my miso soup is. 8 minutes later, she got it served, then another 20 minutes later our food was finally served. I asked for a fork for my daughter and she said she'll bring it right over. Well I saw her brought something to the other table, then took a bill from the other table and went to the register. That whole time, we were waiting for my daughter's fork so she can eat. Finally I stood up and angrily told her that she is f-ing slow! I went to the counter again to ask for a manager, and the guy said he is going to send us a menu, I told him I don't need their freaking menu, I need their manager, then he said he's going to send a manager to our table. I went back back to our table and finally found 2 forks that were white spotted from horrible washing, I have to wipe it myself as i don't want my daughter eating soap scum. Here comes another waitress that asked if we have any problem on our table, I told her yes, I asked for a manager, and she said she is the manager. I didn't know managers waits on tables like she does. I told her the whole situation and what was the assigned waitress to our table was doing the whole time. Her reply was, "I will bring you some spoon." What the F I would need a spoon for??? I didn't ask for a freaking spoon! Then as she was talking he saliva was flying on my rice! WTH??? I told her I just saw her saliva landed on my rice, her response was, "oh, I will bring you some," and that's with a smirk on her face. She kept saying that she was sorry about the poor service and that she doesn't know what she can do more for me- u serious??? does this place needs managing 101?! I want to leave but my daughter was hungry after waiting for so long, so we decided to stay and just finish our lunch. Aside from all the sorry's I've had heard from her, she gave us our bill and said she took 20% off from it-- (seriously!) then gave us a plate of mochi ice cream, and expects me to be happy with it. I am a food enthusiast and have been to fine dining and food cart dining just looking for good food and expecting a good service, I have been disappointed before but never that I have experienced something like this.My soon to be four year old who has no idea about the reality of the world around her made a comment saying "mommy, i don't want to eat here again!". I don't need freebies. I can afford to pay, but with services like that, I am better off...

If I could give NO STARS, I absolutely would. It was sort busy when we arrived, got seated right away, and that's where the end of anything good happened. Our waiter took a bit to take our orders. But he did finally get our order, brought out our drinks, and said our food would be out shortly. Several tables were seated after us, and after we placed our orders. Well, we had been sitting for quite a bit, and I noticed that the tables seated after us were being served. Some were already done eating. My waiter was avoiding our table and one other table. I asked the other table l, and they had been sitting for a while too. I did notice my waiter was up at the register constantly talking with the host. I tried to get his attention, but he would literally go completely opposite of us. After 55 minutes, we got up and walked out! I did stop and tell the little host that a restaurant run this poorly shouldn't be in business. Not even the manager came to our table to apologize for the wait, and of course, our waiter didn't. I probably would have stayed if an employee would have come to explain and apologize for our food being behind. We were only a table of 4 people, and we each ordered one sushi roll and fried rice. It was the WORST experience like this I've ever had at a restaurant. We went across from them to Twigs! Now, that's a restaurant you should visit!! I would never and will never recommend Sushi...
