On Wednesday, 10/08/2025, I went into the Burlington in Federal Way by The Commons Mall, and the HORRIBLE experience I had there pushed me to write this review.
First off, the store looks like a secondhand shop. Clothes are dirty, wrinkled, or even torn. Boxes are ripped open and taped back together. Itâs honestly embarrassing for a store of this size and brand.
I was there to do a return and exchange, and luckily I found what I needed. But when I got to the front, the checkout line was ridiculously long â as usual. And letâs not even talk about the service. There were only two cashiers, and one of them seemed more interested in chatting with her coworkers about personal stuff than actually helping customers. At one point, she even walked away from her register to talk to the so-called âsecurity guardâ by the door. Who does that?
After waiting in line for about 20 minutes (I can only imagine how bad it gets during the holidays), it was finally my turn. The cashier acted like I was bothering her by being there. Her attitude and lack of professionalism were beyond frustrating. Meanwhile, the âsecurity guardâ kept distracting the cashiers with personal conversations instead of paying attention to what was happening in the store.
When I finally finished paying and started to leave, the same security guard â who literally watched me check out â stopped me and demanded to see my receipt. I told her she saw me pay, but she said she didnât care. She was so focused on checking receipts that she didnât even realize she was looking at my return receipt instead of my purchase receipt. How does someone that inattentive even get hired for that job?
Burlington, you are definitely not Costco, and if youâre going to make customers stop for receipt checks, the least you could do is make sure your checkout lines move faster. Nobody has time to stand around in line forever just to be treated poorly at the end.
At this point, Iâm completely done with Burlington. Between the poor service, messy store, and unprofessional staff, I will never set foot in one again. And believe me, Iâll be sharing this experience with my friends, family, and coworkers. If this is how Burlington continues to operate, I wouldnât be surprised if your holiday sales take a serious hit â you canât treat customers like garbage and expect them to keep...
   Read moreThey need to flush all the employees and re-hire. Ive done retail for 10 years and I get that its not everyones dream job, but most of these employees will hurt Burlingtons name. This would be a great location for undercover boss! or even a secret shopper. Came in to get a few things and instantly met with attitude not sure if its because of racial issues but most of the employees were like caddy teenagers with a chip on their shoulder. They need to understand that this is not high school, you cant just go around with your ego being disrespectful and side eyeing everyone. We were there around 7pm and the store closes at 12am so its not like we were taking away their time from going home. I know in regards to stores a lot of things are about how profitable a location is. These people at this location will hurt the profit as less and less people go to this location because of their uncanny unprofessional decorum. I will not be surprized if this locations closes down in a few years. I know I might just get a response that merely just apologizes for the experience.
