Robert who I was surprised to hear is a co owner of this shop ruined my experience of buying a bowling with his lack of patience or ability to explain anything outside of his rhetoric. I bought the ball from him but did not finish the process of setting the ball up as Robert stormed off like a child when he couldn't find the words to explain what he needed. I could tell he is used to speaking with experienced bowlers and used terms he felt I should know I guess (one of the misunderstandings was him referencing an oil coating and me asking if he meant coating on the bowling ball or the bowling lane) a simple question met with eye rolls. Even after telling him this is my first bowling ball he was still a POS.
I ended up leaving this place and having the finishing touches done out in Olympia to the ball I (regrettably) purchased. I'll keep coming to secoma lanes they are fantastic and don't judge them by their shop they are 10/10. But this pro shop could go away and I doubt anybody would care.
Personality issues aside with Robert, the shop is a pig sty, boxes of merchandise all over in the storefront. No organization, and prices are comparable to anywhere else, I have no clue how this place has any 5 star reviews. They must have had the other owner help them.
This is an update, been practicing with the ball that Robert pushed on me. I still throw it terrible. I can bowl 200+ with a house ball pretty regularly, but this junk ball he sold me doesn't do anything close to what I want it to and I don't think it matches my bowling style. It's pretty silly leaving my 300$ ball on the rack the whole time while I bowl with the chipped up house balls with way...
Read moreI scheduled an appointment to get a ball fitted. Robert and the rest of the crew working that day helped me out immensely. If you are a new bowler, or a seasoned veteran, this is the place to go for your bowling needs! My experience was extremely positive and will go to them again for anything I need in the future.
As a complete newbie not really knowing anything, they were able to immediately understand what I was wanting and get me setup to for success after looking at how I bowled. There was never any pressure to buy anything else and didn't try to up sell me on a more expensive ball.
They went above and beyond to look at my form when I mentioned having issues with ball release trying out the ball. They worked with me to make sure that I had the right tools to be able to do some self learning before I left.
After correcting my form issues with their tips, and some YouTube videos. Using the new ball they fit for me, I was able to bowl 4 games in a row without any pain in my hand, arm, or shoulder! Not to mention it was the first time I felt like I could control and aim the ball consistently. Usually I couldn't bowl more than 1 or two games with a house ball. The ball they fit feels like an extension of my hand.
There is still more to learn, but I now have the right tools to be able to get better. Will probably end up going for lessons some time in the...
Read moreI went in for a ball, shoes, and bag. Prices are reasonable and drilling is included when you buy your ball from them. I recommend making an appointment online. The process is worth it and longer than I thought. Prior to picking a ball Greg took me to a lane to see how I bowl. From there he gave me recommendations on what balls to go with. After choosing a ball. Peter measured my fingers so he can drill the ball just for me. These guys made me feel comfortable, great conversations. Felt like I was in the company of friends. Then Greg took me back on the lane, he gave me some pointers and made sure the ball worked for me. Overall the service was great. I picked out my bag and shoes. I also purchased a ball cleaner. Throughout the process no one tried to sell me anything I didn't need. They made sure I left happy. Definitely will book lessons in the future and as I progress in bowling I will be purchasing future bowling balls from Peter...
