We visited Catapult Adventure Park in Federal Way for the first time. I read the reviews prior to visiting and decided to take a chance.
If you're actively watching your kids, they will be fine. There are kids of all ages anywhere you go, especially playgrounds and family places. Bullies exist everywhere, and this place is no exception. If you have a very young child/toddler, you might want to hover and/or follow them closely as you would any other place.
If you have older kids, you would want to make sure that they're mindful of others. This isn't a place where staff is there to babysit.
I agree that this place might need more staff to cover higher volume days because we went on a weekend, and there weren't enough staff members to help everyone in a timely manner.
Overall, the facility was clean, and we had a great time. The tall slide next to the zipline area probably does need more padding at the bottom and/or some grippy material on the floor so that kids won't fly past the landing area.
The floor under the zipline should also have some kind of padding, especially considering that it looked like the harnesses didn't fit snugly on all of the children that were up there. Should a child fall while crossing on the zipline, they would be landing on concrete and/or someone below.
Maybe a net would help if flooring can not be done.
I saw reasonably sized adults sinking while trying to walk in the inflatable area. I didn't try to go near the middle, but I did experience the sinking. I am not sure if the inflatable area was experiencing a leak or if it needed more air. There were tons of people walking and playing in the inflatable area, so I am not sure what the experience is supposed to be like.
The bathrooms were clean. We didn't experience the cleaning chemicals smell/issue that others described, so they must have improved.
The pricing is reasonable, and this is a great/unique alternative to trampoline parks and other...
Read morePlease take my advice and donât have your childâs birthday party here. This was my first experience at this facility and Iâm incredibly disappointed. My son had previously gone to a party at the puyallup location (much bigger & cleaner) so we opted for a party at our closest location (federal way) not knowing they were different.
Now, this may be my fault for being unaware but if you donât have over 10 kids, you get a communal room upstairs where thereâs a ton of other tables/parties going on which I wasnât a fan of, but it wasnât super busy so it wasnât a huge deal. The kids played and had fun, but the last 30 mins of our party pretty much ruined the entire experience for us. Since the party area was open to the public, two young children (5 & 8 maybe) came over to our area and started trying to open my sons presents, take goodie bags off the table, and literally open mouth coughing over and over again ALL OVER our table with our cake and food on it and literally even eating half eaten pizza on a plate! We asked him SO many times kindly to go find his mom and that this was a private party and he wouldnât leave. We let two different employees know about how frustrated we were and were met with the shoulder shrug and âIâm sorryâ. Finally, as we were leaving I spoke to the manager who told me âIâm sorry that happened, I can give you a $10 refundâ. To which I declined and left.
So basically we paid $360 for 6 kids to play, got our food and cake eaten/aggressively coughed on, and had to literally yell at children not to take the goodie bags for my sonâs friends. PLEASE donât make the mistake we did and waste money on a party here. I would not recommend this place. To pay that much for a party I had higher expectations than what we experienced and offering a $10 refund was honestly laughable and a bit insulting. Regardless, we...
Read moreMy kids would probably give it 5 stars. But, im not giving them that. The lack of supervision and the lack of communication and the lack of anything. We paid for 1.5 hours and my kids were playing in the bouncy area for the first 40 minutes or so and then they wanted to try the more daring stuff. So, they went up the tube slide and there was nobody up there to help them slide down. So, I had to go up there and help them down. Then a lot of sliders were getting stuck at the bottom because they didn't know they needed to spray, whatever was in the spray bottle just sitting at the top. So, I had to go back up and spray my kids tubes so that they were able to slide down.
Then they went over to the harnesses and that was a cluster $%#@. As we went over to get them on my kods so they could do the course, she said she was going on a break and it was closed. Ok, I guess. So we waited for a bit, and then someone came over finally and was putting harnesses on for the climbing wall. The line was non-existent and the kid putting the harnesses on could barely speak or didn't seem to want to be there. I asked when the course would open and I believe he said someone should show after their break. We waited another 30 minutes and finally just left. What a waste of a full 1.5 hours. No signs warning people they would close the obstacle course no communication at all. Im really surprised there is not a lot of injuries there. The ball pit is a free for all and its kinda scary as the big round wall thing they have in front of the ball pit is dangerous. Kids were laying in the shallow balls next to it and kids were jumping over it. They could not see if they would jump on anybody. I saw a few close calls.
Would we go back, I'd say no, but my kids would...
