I haven’t been to this thrift shop since I was like 12 years old. I use to come here all the time. I haven’t been in like 12 years, and I was coming from a long walk on the beach. I wanted to go show some support by either buying something or by making a donation. I walk in I am so kind and the first thing the older lady does is look at my chest and ask me if I have a cover up which I was already wearing. She was very judgemental and I could see it behind the man that works behind the counter. I attended Santa Maria my whole life and sang in the church choir, I volunteered at the soup kitchens and I stopped going because of the now priest that’s there. He is mean and very angry. Then I come to this thrift store and I’m treated like I’m some filth off the street. I am Catholic and I am absolutely sick and tired of how people like this make Catholicism look. This is why people can’t stand Catholics and it’s so so sad. Talks about how the church is a hospital for sinners, not a home for saints. Talks about walk in a stranger, leave a friend. The priest I had growing up represented that, the church I gre up in represented that. This thrift store use to be that. She told me I can come in (after her judging me) when I told her I went to the church. I am all set. What would Jesus do? He says Come As You Are. If you can’t handle someone walking in in a bathing suit cover up, you shouldn’t be a thrift shop on the beach. This is now the second time in the past year Santa Maria has made me feel like filth. I am a proud Catholic but I am absolutely ASHAMED that the church allows such judgmental individuals to be greeting the public. It’s an absolute shame that as someone whose Catholic but doesn’t give off the textbook description of one all the time by how I dress, gets treated this way by her brothers and sisters through Christ. Do better. Be better. Jesus wouldn’t approve of your actions so stop acting so High and Mighty like you are better then. I pray you reflect on your actions and change your ways because I can tell you’ve turned many people away...
Read moreI have been to this thrift store numerous times and nearly every time the people who volunteer here are less than friendly. It seems some of the volunteers believe they are better than the people who shop here. Maybe that's why they have chosen to volunteer here... Some items are very overpriced like wreaths and some decorative items. The shirts and pants are average priced at around $4-5 / item. Shoes are average priced $4-12. Some shoes are very overpriced. Maybe the people who run this charity need to be reminded that it should not be about getting the maximum dollar out of the items they resale but is about serving the community both with offering items for very good prices to the needy population as well as utilizing the proceeds from those resales for good...
Read moreNot sure why all the negative comments but I got 3 nice pairs of jeans for $2.50 each one still had tags. They were on sale that day, as well as t shirts were also on sale $2 each. You have to look at the board behind counter and smart shop. Even so t shirts normal price was $4-$5 per shirt and $5 pants and $4 shorts. I also got a nice hair straightener iron for $4. I was just there last week so prices aren't like what some are saying. Lady was nice to me and my stepmom. Definitely worth to check out. They tend to have a lot of name brand clothes. My stepmom got a nice polo dress for $6 which would have been over $100 at a regular...
