The hostess could not be bothered to look at us, or even speak to us. She said come with me, and took me and my son to the very far end of the first floor, near the parking lot and the dumpster. She walks past us, put the menus on the table and kept going. I said this is not acceptable I want to sit at the front of the restaurant. She said we have no seats. I said let’s go upstairs. She did the same exact thing and stuck us at the very far end in the back over the parking lot and was completely miserable. I said I didn’t want to sit there. She said she would come back when she had another table and she did.
The waiter that was taking our order did not speak or listen to what we wanted. None of the staff there paid any attention to any of the customers. The food was horrendous. I ordered a simple capris salad. It was warmer than the 89° air. I was breathing. The tomatoes were brown, there was no basil, the lettuce was wilted, and the mozzarella was warm. I ordered a Tortugas fishbowl in their signature glass and they had no more glasses so they gave me a plastic cup with a rum drink in it. We paid for our food and left and went to Flinns down the street.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself some time and money. Flinns was amazing, the bar staff was amazing and the food there is perfect. Because I could not get decent food at Tortuga’s. I ordered the loaded fries and chicken at Flinns and it was served quickly and it was perfect.
I will never ever go to a Tortugas again after the way me and my son were treated. My son just got home from Japan from being overseas and they wanted to sit us over a dumpster. This is why I was upset. They did not know that, but they didn’t need to. They didn’t ask. They didn’t care.
One more added note. A customer that was sitting on the opposite side of the restaurant on the first floor came all the way upstairs and started yelling at my son. You are allowed to smoke at Tortuga’s and we had an ashtray. My son did not smoke I did. I use the ashtray. He said that my son was flicking his cigarette over the side of the railing and it went into his grandsons food. We were not the only ones smoking, but we were not sitting anywhere over him. We were at the opposite end of the building upstairs.
So, we were offered to sit by the dumpster twice, we were not waited on, and we were harassed by other patrons, for no reason. Great service. Good job guys.
And the band...
Read moreThree years of being away from this place I met my friend Jennifer she's amazing we walked after parking and looking at the ocean for a while down the way saw the 800 foot doctors now about 180 feet lol
Not to mention the captivating lightning strikes in the weather rolling in. We really were enjoying everything and then we got hungry. Well mainly me Jennifer was very patient.
She made it here from San Diego and now we're here again after three year hiatus we decided to eat here after sitting by the campfire she knew I couldn't get a cab ride and she said come on. She knew literally I would not get a cab ride I mean it yes
Little do you know George strait and Willie Nelson's truck driver showed up late to the campfire we all had fun just telling stories. Everybody was patient with one another and listen to one another what a place this place is we're not even sitting by the campfire of course then it was a little chillier .
I was stranded yes about 2530 minutes up the way, but I took a cab ride down here. Thanks Jennifer, making sure I made it back to work. My support sleeping area was stranded on the side of US A1A on the west side of the road.
Keep in mind if you choose to move in this floor, the darkness it gets really dark and you won't see giant cypress trees that have lasted eternity through the hundreds and hundreds of years of hurricanes. Yes I found that out. I am a much better truck driver now again, thank you everybody and especially tonight.
Megan is a Jersey girl even before she showed up to take her order. We had the hostess showing us nothing flamboyant, but just a great personality and then as we were sitting on the corner overlooking the ocean I look to my left and here comes another server specialist agent. I raise my hands like raise the roof, and she did Waymore than that with a big smile.
Thanks again you guys we love our experience especially how we sat out here and Jennifer coached me to eat through sitting and eating in the rain. We were sitting and eating in the rain. We didn't even sing but maybe that's our next step. We haven't left yet lol here's some pictures. Love you guys. Thanks for the great place to eat...
Read moreJUST WOW! The food there was not what I was expecting at all. From the street it looked like your typical sports bar that would be minimal on decor other than beer and liquor, signs and have basic bar food. But instead, I found a menu very diverse with its offerings and to my surprise very tasty. And the decor was quite tasteful as well. Definitely nothing typical about this place. I had the pork belly bites appetizer and the fried conch wrap. This was not just some thrown wrap. There were several fresh items inside that I don’t recall like mango and some else with a kick to it. I was raised in Miami and spent a lot of my time in the key and Bahamas. It is hard to find anywhere that you actually get real conch other than just minced up stuff in a fritter. While the pork belly bites were good, the conch wrap was stellar. My friend had the fish Reuben and she said it was delicious as well. And I cannot say enough about Kate, our server/bartender. Not only was she so sweet and helpful, but extremely proficient. I could tell by talking to her about the menu choices that she was knowledgeable about the offerings there. I started off with a beer, but wanted something a little more festive being at the beach. She made me an excellent margarita, with the caution I do not like sweets - and she actually listened… I don’t often order them because even though I tell a bartender, I don’t like sweets they don’t seem to either hear me or not able to accommodate. I was camping at Gamble Rogers State Park nearby and I had paddle that day for over two hours and was quite hungry and wanting to relax. Having driven The strip, looking for a place that wasn’t too packed given that was the start of bike week, I totally scored landing at Tortuga‘s. I look forward to the next time I’m down that way camping. It will definitely be a...
