This is a 13+ napkin meal! And that's a GOOD thing! Got the UFO with some friends I'm visiting who live here. I probably won't be able to return anytime soon but I wish I could! Had the pork, but all the options looked good. Birria stood out as an option too. Choice of beans, choice of protein, choice of finishes, choices. I was a little overwhelmed so I got the same thing as my hosts.
The UFO was a burrito wrap type of thing and other than being a little bit difficult to eat without a fork (they were available but the UFO was a wrap type format so it didn't work with a fork so well) I didn't need the fork after all.
I like how the simple menu offers fresh food in tasty combinations with options to upscale the meal. We also got the Rasta Sampler- red, gold, and green. The red sauce was super hot! The queso was blonde and not too thick, and the guacamole creamy, with chunks of peppers and onions. The queso was perfect for inside the UFO as well as with tortilla chips. The salsa was chunky and sweet, not spicy at all.
We also got there at a good time, between crowds out the door of the tiny shack type building. Apparently this happens a lot!
A drawback was that there was one restroom for them shared with their other business (a burger joint, also v busy) up in the building facing the street. It took a while to get in, I found out, because 3 younglings were putting on their bikinis in there.
Being from the Midwest, I'm not much of a sweet tea drinker, but I added some to my iced tea to try it. Maybe 5/6ths of the cup I filled with the straight iced tea and the rest with the sweet and I am glad I'm not diabetic.
One last important detail is that you pick your own spicy level between 1-10, 5 suggested.
Hope you can find your way here; it's...
Read moreThis is a factual & joyful story about Ethan, the crew & the food at The A1A Burrito Works Taco Shop. i stopped in The Taco Shop at 109 S Ocean Shore Blvd. Flagler Beach, late on a Sunday afternoon, as my wife had a hankering for some of their fish tacos. I asked for their UFO, but only wanted a mix of red/black beans & cheese. Ethan, behind the counter, learning of my request, immediately, with the full knowledge of his menu & a person with a naturally soulful, accommodating disposition, kindly suggested that he could make me a quesadilla using the same ingredients with the addition of taco shells inside for the crunch factor. How can 1 say no, when a staff member goes out of their way, using their knowledge & caring persona, to assure that you have the best multilevel dining experience? His quick on his feet suggestion made for a perfect dinner! If i still ran a business, even though it wasn’t a restaurant, i’d hire him on the spot… Excellent energy on all counts: the spot, the service & the food!!! Lookin’ forward, with an attitude...
Read moreI have been to Burrito works many times at the Palm Coast location but have never been to the Flagler beach location or the Original location that has been on the cooking channel. This review is about our quarantine service we are going through right now. They have the front area marked with social distance lines to keep their customers safe and in compliance with the state ordinance. You order through the take out window and can have a seat at the park benches while you wait. The only issue we had with this location was how quickly it took for our order to be ready. We had one person in front of us and it took about 20 minutes from the time we ordered to actually receiving our food. The food however was awesome, probably the best burrito we have had in a long time. If you like chipotle then you’re gonna love this place 10x more!! The meat for the shredded beef and chicken was so tasteful and also spicy. I recommend coming to this location or the other two in Palm Coast or St. Augustine the next time you have a craving...
