UPDATE: This was my only negative experience at this store. All other staff members have been pleasant, attentive, and helpful if needed. I haven't seen Cindy in the last 6 months or so on my regular shopping trips. I opted NOT to call the corporate office after the weekend mentioned below.
This store is convenient to my home and often has a GREAT selection of basic and specialty items needed for my grocery supply. My Thanksgiving shopping is under $150.00 thanks to ALDI!
Original post: My shopping experience is usually uneventful and pleasant at this store. Today, was unfortunately, very different. According to my receipt, Cindy was my cashier. My interaction with her made me feel quite unwelcome. Cindy made small talk with the customers before and after me in line. While she did ask if I found everything, the second thing she said to me was "I'm going to need you to bag, too." I did not have a shopping cart because I didn't have a great amount of griceries. Regardless, The person most immediately behind me had two items and no bag.
I proceed to monitor the transaction and it appeared that one item rung up twice. I ask Cindy to check it before I swipe my card in case it needed rectification, but, all was as it should have been. Cindy made it a point to tell me that while the item in question rang up properly, something I DID have twp of indeed rang up twice. I concured with her that I have two of that second item. She resumed the transaction and I rendered payment.
As I proceed to move the shopping cart to clear the transaction area so that business could continue while I placed my goods on the baggage counter and return the cart, Cindy grabs onto the cart and knocks it back into the side of the console counter stating "I need my cart."
I happened to have a quarter, so I leave my groceries, go outside, collect a cart and return to transfer my items from one cart to the other because at this point, the customer behind me had items in the top of the basket and has begun to pay. My last item in the original shopping cart is a brick of butter (foil wrapped, no box).
Cindy proceed to stop serving her current customer, grab my item and toss it into my cart, denting my butter.
I am NOT a happy customer. If I could get the phone number for store number #49, I'd gladly call there to handle this. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until Monday and...
Read moreIm new to the south as we moved here from the west coast. I was excited to see a place that reminded me of fresh and easy in a way, there wasnt much in there but what was in there looked fresh and of great quality, the prices werent bad either. The aisles were clean and shelves fully stocked. Though the lighting in the place was a little dim, I didnt mind it. All in all I would jave given the place five stars, until I cam across the end of my first time visiting this place. The cashier wasnt very helpful or informative. He was actually very rude, he also seemed very overwhelmed that there was like two more people behind me so he was very short with me, didnt let me know i had to bring my own bags, was throwing my items in my basket, plopping heavier items on top of my eggs, ripping open the plastic to scan my meat, so finally after watching in horror, and concern for the things I was about to purchase I finally spoke up, and said "can you not rip open my food and through my items on top of my eggs and into my basket like that?" He said nothing, after he ripped open my steaks, I said can you not and i took another container of meat and scanned it for him and said you can do it like this you dont have to rip everything open to scan my items. She got smart with me and I was about to walk out. Yet at that point the line was increasing and he became even more overwhelmed, and people were starting to look at me and at him, I didnt want to look like the angry black woman so I just waited. I did ask where his manager was and he said " I dont know where he is but he's around here somewhere" I asked to talk to him and he repeated "i dont know where he is". I paid for my items and called customer service as soon as I finished packing my car up of all my opened produce and cracked eggs. They offered me a apology and transfered me to another department, that only offered me a apology and a "case number." Needless to say I will never return to Aldi again, and neither will my...
