The people here are friendly and try to create a good, family-friendly atmosphere. However, the floor is in desperate need of some basic, on-going cleaning, as well as a total refinish. Last night, I had to stop many times and scrape my wheels with a pocket knife because of sticky junk from the skating floor; it was really bad. Strictly forbidding food, drink or candy outside of the snack bar area is an absolute must, as well as enforcing this rule. I saw quite a few pitchers of soft drinks outside the snack bar area and even saw 1 on the skating floor.
Also, there is a lack of on-duty skate guards and the one that might be on duty usually does not seem to command any authority on the floor. They seem to either not care or afraid to correct inappropriate behavior. People need to be reprimanded, sat down, and escorted out if necessary. I cannot tell you how many times I saw teens bumping into others, even knocking over small kids, without them caring, saying I'm sorry or being reprimanded by the Skate Guard (even if it happened to them or in front of them). Cell phones need to be forbidden from the floor, as this also causes safety issues. This is the only skating rink I know that allows cell phones on the floor. Safety should always be a top priority.
And yes, I spoke with employees about these issues, but the blame is placed on an out of town owner. They said he owns 2 rinks, so hopefully he realizes this is basic for success (or failure).
Being the only rink in town, they should realize that improving these things will only help to improve their business, not diminish it, as well as improve their profits.
If the floor is cleaned on a regular basis and if behavior is better regulated on the skating floor, I would give them...
Read moreI attend a birthday party today with my niece. I rented 2 of the skate buddies. I was told that upon the return of the rental. I would receive my $10 back for each rental which makes my refund $20.00. So I agreed to move forward with the rental. When I went to return the rentals I was given $10.00 and I said to the young lady where is the other $10.00. There was another young lady who was told the same thing. She was there before me and she was told the same thing as well. We proceeded to ask for a manager when (Megan) came out to assist the staff. Let’s just say she didn’t handle it as manager. Her demeanor as a manager was not inviting. She walked away and refused to come back to talk or resolve the issues. Keep in mind I handled the situation very professional. I requested the owners number and one of the staff members was so kind to give it to me. The one thing that solved this entire situation was a sincere apology from the staff and not the Manager! I thanked him and told him it’s not his place to apologize however, I thanked anyway. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner and she apologize. Just food for thought it would be very Helpful if you would have a sign with detailed information explaining the process. Oh and by the way I have no issues with paying for anything it’s principality of how the issue...
Read moreBeware if you have a birthday party there. Reserved party for grandaughter. Told them there would be approximately 15 teenagers. When we arrived there was one table that they set for 11 people. Told them we needed another table which the manager tried to say it only comes with the table we had. Eventually they put tablecloth on 2 additional tables. Other non guest were sitting at tables putting their dirty skates on it. Had staff put reserved sign on table but no one cleaned it off. Pary included a slice of pizza and a cup of soda for each guest. We ended up with 13 teenagers. When pizza came they actually cut one pizza into 14 slices had to purchase another pizza. Was told each guest would receive a pass to skate free at another day. Well pass is only good for Tuesday or Sunday. Rated it a two because the guest had fun skating but the rest of the party...
