We joined recently. I find it a very difficult shopping experience. They offer a large variety of items but there are no signs that I recall, so it’s extremely time consuming to look for anything. I understand that the merchandise varies by season, and possibly for other reasons, but simple signs to distinguish a group of items, such as, “vitamins, pharmaceuticals, bread, etc etc...... would be helpful. And I guess the store was closing when I got to the checkout. I waited in a line with only two people ahead of me. Other people were frantically moving to shorter lines. Before I reached the counter a large sign, (irony), was set up telling that the register was closed. I looked at one person at that checkout. He said, “don’t worry, we’ll finish after you”! But a different guy running the groceries was audibly aggravated by having to check me through. He whined, (unbelievable), to the other guy, asking if he wasn’t even going to help him, (not that I had a huge amount of items or that anything was going to be packaged by him). The first guy came to his rescue, removed items from the cart and placed onto the counter, and then a woman came to help the poor poor man put things recklessly back in the cart. No one ever said anything to me other than asking for my card. No thanks, have a nice evening, sorry I was stressing and took it out on you. Nothing. It was not a good overall experience. Hopefully every visit won’t be like that. Perhaps one cue for everyone would be better. That’s how it works in large department stores in other countries I’ve shopped in. That way, even if a checkout closes, no one is left running after the next checkout. The entire “organization” needs more organizing.

I enjoy going to Costco. I do think the membership is worth it if you are selective on what you get. Example would be the cost of Charmin Toilet paper or the large box of small bags of potato chips. There is a large difference in price for what you would pay at the normal box stores. Recently I purchased a Green Works self propelled electric mower. Never would I believe I would buy one, but the truth is, that todays gas mowers are not very good or worth the money. This 80V, 21 inch self propelled mower with batteries included and charger were bought for $499. The charge is enough to do my yard and it really does an excellent job. I can't believe that I actually liked it. It is quiet and cuts well. Only thing wrong I've found is you need to let go of the self propel and let it travel a couple of inches for the wheels to roll backward without locking up. My only complaint so far. I do worry that the batteries hold up, but only time will tell on that. I do recommend this product.

Shop here about once a month, love the roasted chicken and can't beat the price. Lots of other good deals as well always. Today was crazy though, you would have thought they were giving it all free lol. Always busy here, but today was an exception! Two initial checkout lines halfway back of the store, one for self-check and one for cashier checking, food court was overflowed! Even the fuel center what is extremely busy. But they do keep everything moving along and the wait was not that long I'm disappointed they don't always carry the same items that are very popular, no more Munchies and no more coconut chocolate almonds (the almonds are their brand). But always something new to try, they always have great samples! Fruit season, nice variety and competitive pricing. Bing cherries $7.49 for 2#. Love my membership to Costco, well worth the membership fee just on every day items, and not always bulk.

I wanted to share my experience. I am Asian, married to an American, and I need to point this out because I felt embarrassed by this cashier and her fellow checkers talking to me like I am a kid and know nothing. So, my husband, who is the cardholder, our two kids, and I went to Costco Florence today. Upon checking out, my husband handed me his card and went outside because our toddler wouldn't settle down. This cashier just told me, 'This is not you!' I said, 'Yes, this is my husband's; he went outside because of our toddler.' Then, she called another checker to verify our card, and then another one. The thing is, I pointed out right from the start that my husband and I came in together, and he just needed to go outside ahead of me because of our toddler. This cashier asked me where he was, and I said he was outside (this was the third time I told them). So, I asked them if they wanted me to call my husband to come back, but they ignored me as if I was talking to myself. Anyway, I still called my husband, and while I was calling him on the phone, they told me they needed him there because he is the cardholder. I said okay, I am calling him. It took a while because my husband was struggling with our toddler. While waiting for him, I heard the cashier and the checker talking that 'this happens a lot, people coming in but they are not the holder of the card; they don't check at the front; they should start checking in and so on.' I find this being rude. I heard them loud and clear, talking that way, and I looked at them just for them to notice me, I am here, I can hear and understand you guys. But they just kept talking; saying they should have addressed that right then. The cashier asked me again if he was coming, as if I was lying. I said yes. Then, he apologized to the customer who was next to me. Kudos to the gentleman; he told the cashier that he was fine and didn't want to put pressure on me. The cashier apologized to other customers because it happened that they were waiting for me because I was using a card that was not mine. My husband came, they talked, the cashier apologized to my husband but not to me, who felt belittled. The cashier apologized to other customers but not to me, who got embarrassed by their actions. Costco Florence, I hope you get this message; it is time to give proper training on how your cashiers handle customers, whether the customer is not the cardholder. I did not sneak in, and I am not a thief. I got in because I was with my husband. The checker at the front did their job; otherwise, I couldn't get in if not. I hope your service will be better, treating customers like me...

If you're thinking about visiting this Costco, my advice is skip this and go to Liberty Township or Waterstone Blvd in Cincinnati. Way better overall experiences there with 0 issues the hundreds of times I've visited. Hope this review helps you! 💜

10/13/2025 Costco staff at checkout in Florence KY were unhelpful for the following 2 reasons:

When asked about which items were taxed as I noticed a tax fee when paying, his response was "Everything." Complete with a look that suggested his answer to my question was so obvious. I thought he misheard me, and asked again, and he gave the same response. Lady assisting at the cashier, provided no additional feedback, except that I still needed to pay. Why is staff at the counter not able to provide a simple detail about what I am being charged for, isn't that part of their job and training?

I asked if there were boxes and if I could have some, he said "yes, you can have as many as you want", with no additional directions. I thought they would pack my produce in the boxes as other stores do. But they didn't. So I asked again when they were packing the cart without boxes, if the boxes were somewhere ahead and how I could get some. To be fair, she did provide a helpful response but overall customer service at the counter felt off. Like I was interrupting their work and inconveniencing them when I only asked 2 questions as the customer? It's midday on a Monday, not closing times on a Friday evening.

I like Costco and have been a loyal customer for years. The one in Florence however, which now unfortunately happens to be the nearest for me, has often left me feeling slighted the 10 or so times I've been. This one takes the cake though. I was in a really cheery mood too, and this put a slight dent in my day. Not worth the shorter commute, imo. Also prob why it's never quite as crowded as the...

Trying to buy a refrigerator is much more trouble than any possible savings could be worth! Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong regarding the order and delivery! First, they didn't update our membership which we renewed about a week before we decided to buy a refrigerator. So we ordered the refrigerator and the order seemed to go thru fine. We received a confirmation and a delivery date. The next day we received an email stating there was a problem (non specific) with the order. It didn't describe the problem and didn't give details, so we had to make multiple phone calls to our credit card company, the store, and make trips to the store to learn the problem was the store failed to update our membership renewal a week earlier, therefore, we weren't reflected as active members (even though we were). They corrected that problem, then we had to go back home and reorder the refrigerator online, again. It was no longer in sale. Another trip to the store to try to talk them into the sale price. We did manage to get the sale price but were told the paperwork would not show the sale price initially. That didn't seem right?! Another trip back to the store and another employee said we should see the sale price immediately! What confusion! Then...the day of delivery is reflected as Monday. But... later, we're told...no... it's arriving at the store on Monday. They don't actually know when it will be scheduled for delivery. Then...my husband opens his email at 10:30 Monday morning and sees that he received an email about 8:00 am stating the refrigerator is on its way! Of course, when they arrived they didn't ring the doorbell because I would have heard that since I did hear the doorbell at 8:50 when my grandchildren rang it! We're still trying to find out where the refrigerator is and if we'll...
