This place is usually SO GOOD, but I’ve only had it two other times— so maybe I was overzealous in that praise. Today, as I’m sitting in the parking lot, the tacos are not good at all and the queso smells and tastes as if it’s rancid. There’s a lot of young people working in the kitchen, none of which are polite. I ordered 6 tacos to go and chips+queso about $26. I also tipped $6. The cashier was not friendly at all, didn’t smile or say anything except “K. Is that it? K. Is that it?” When I asked the flavors of frescas they had she just stepped out of the way of the refrigerator and gestured at it. I thought this was rude, but no one is obligated to be polite— so that wasn’t the issue. When they called me to the counter to get my order, it wasn’t packaged to go. I let the young man at the counter know that it should’ve been packaged to go, and I was polite regarding the situation. He stated, “my bad” and proceeded to package the order to go. I got the order and thanked him, he did not respond. I got to my car and checked the order and there was no sauce or anything else packaged with my tacos. I went back inside again to ask for some sauces to go. He walked over and placed 5 small containers on the counter next to the sauces and walked away. I packaged my own sauces and retreated to my car. The tacos themselves were not good. The meat was dry and fatty— it seemed as if it may have been sitting awhile and the same went for the queso and chips. The chips seemed stale or as if they’d been left sitting open. None of the food was warm, which was insane considering I’d just ordered it. I really wanted this to be my spot and I was excited about it, but after today I guess I’ll find a new spot....
Read moreFound this cute little taco spot to try out for a visit to downtown Fort Worth. We were excited to try it because the tacos looked delicious. We tried the Barbaco and the Pollo Asado, we loved both of them. They make homemade tortillas which were really good, the meat was fresh and hot, we even went back and ordered seconds of both. The tortilla chips were also homemade and severed with warm salsa. They have salsas you can help yourself to near where you pick up your food, the green salsa was good. There was only one thing I have to write about that was a bummer but we completely understood.. we went the day after Cinco De Mayo (later in the day like 4 PM) and they were out of A LOT of items because they were so busy the day before. We were really looking forward to trying all the meats here especially the Trompo and Fajita tacos but they told us they were completely out of everything except the Barbacoa and Pollo Asado…we sat near the kitchen and the whole time we were there it actually looked like they were cooking Fajita Steak on the grill. We tried asking the register girl but she kept just saying they only had those (2)meats, we were really hoping that it was fajita steak and would haven been willing to wait to try it. Not sure if it was for a catering order or something like that. They were also out of Queso and Guacamole. Last thing, the happy hour is an AMAZING deal here! My husband and friends shared a bucket of beers and I got a house margarita (so good!). The music was a good selection and the atmosphere was super cute. Overall, we really enjoyed this place and hope we’ll be able to get back to Fort Worth in the near future because we want to try some of the...
Read moreOverall this is a spot we would definitely visit the next time we're in Fort Worth. The service was great. The guy who took our order greeted us with a smile, was friendly, and was kind and patient as our party decided what we wanted to order. I had the birria with was really good. The consome was great! The only thing I would have added alwas onions and cilantro to the actual tacos instead of just on the consome. My dining partner had the chicken quesadilla. He said it was good but wished it had a little more cheese pull. All of our food was piping hot, which we loved. We went early, so no cocktails this go 'round. Will definitely be trying the margaritas next time. The churros were pretty good too. We tried one of each. The chips were freshly homemade. Delicious! The queso was lacking flavor a bit, but still decent. Just not great. And we got all of that for $40! Can't beat it in this economy! As for atmosphere, we sat inside and loved being able to see into the kitchen and watching the tortillas being made. The door was open a lot due to people coming in and out, so there were a few flies. But they weren't awfully bothersome. Just had to play a little round of "shoo fly" for part of our visit. They also have plenty of patio seating. All in all, we're excited to try more of the menu when...
