I would like to start this by saying that I am a beginner at tooling leather. I have watched several YouTube videos, but it is not the same and actually working with leather. I had also spoken with several people in my local area, which is Waxahachie Texas. I was told that Tandy Leather would be an excellent place to get some guidance.
I was very disappointed today with the customer service at Fort Worth's Tandy Leather store #4. When I arrived, around 2:30 pm, the lady that was behind the counter did not greet or acknowledge me or either one of my family members. It was not until I was standing at the counter waiting for her to knowledge me that she did, apparently she was busy painting something, as to what it was I don't know. Also, my wife and son and I were the only customers in the store at the time when I arrived. I informed her that I was new to working with leather and never have done so before . I then informed her of a project that I had in mind and was looking for some guidance as how to proceed. She merely pointed out some leathers that would be good for the project, then pointed out the wall opposite of where the leather was that all the buckles, rivits, snaps and tools that I would need are over there. I wandered the store for approximately 30 or 40 minutes. Finally I just thought what's the point. If the store is not wanting to offer me guidance or help why should I spend my hard-earned money here.
You would think after I informed her that I did not have any firsthand knowledge of working with leather, that she would have offered more guidance. No, she merely went back to doing what ever she was doing before. I would like to think that this is not how Tandy Leather stores normally operate, but my very first experience with Tandy Leather was not a favorable one.
I would also like to add, that after about 15 or 20 minutes of being in the store one other customer did arrive, but left fairly quickly...
Read moreWorst customer service ever, this place in this location (Ft Worth) is not in the business of selling their products. We came on Sunday Jan. 12 2020 around 2ish p.m, No customers just the so called sales person who was sitting upfront and from the looks of it, she looked like she was painting her nails, not sure. She did not greet us, no eye contact when we came in. My husband goes up to her and tells her he is interested in getting into leather crafting but doesn't know where to start. He wants to make a radio holder for his work radio as he is a fireman and needs something to hold his device. The lady just points to where the tools are and leather and that' it. Goes back to painting her nails or who knows what. My husband walks around for 40 minutes and at no time does she offer assistance, not asking, "is there anything I can help you with?" Just sitting there. I mean if someone who was dishonest wanted to steal, they could, since she is not aware of her surroundings, hope they have cameras for thieves because she sux. Such a waste of a 45 min drive. My husband was hoping to begin this project today and was hoping to purchase some materials, but why waste our money on a place that isn't willing to sell their products or offer assistance. It's best to just watch YouTube videos and buy stuff from Amazon or a place that is willing to...
Read moreI went into this tandy's the other day, just to find out that my favorite manager is gone. This always happens. One of these stores will finally get a really good and helpful manager, and then corporate finds out and runs them off. This is happened at the Dallas location which is no longer there, and the Irving location as well, which surprise surprise is no longer there either. I've dealt with this company for over 10 years, and this keeps happening over and over and over again. Back when this company used to work with businesses like mine, they used to be a great resource for both good quality leather and information regarding leather projects. But now they barely give any kind of discounts to businesses anymore, and their prices are outrageous for what they are trying to sell. I'll be honest instead of working with a new manager and building up another relationship with them I'm just going to shop at frog jelly in Mansfield from now on, or just shop online with Weaver...
