I don't usually leave reviews, but I want to protect others from the heartbreak I experienced.
I brought my parents' wedding ring to Crown Jewelers to be made into a permanent necklace bezel. My parents divorced when I was young, and their ring symbolized the love and unity that brought me into this world. Given that they are divorced, the ring was the only tangible symbol of what I always longed for. This necklace was meant to be a piece I could wear close to my heart forever.
The owner assured me the ring would be melted and incorporated into the new piece. But when I received the final product, it was a cheap, mass-produced bezel that looked nothing like what we discussed. I confronted the owner about its design (in a polite way) as I was very confused. He assured me this was a one-of-a-kind handmade piece that used the entire amount of gold and then some. I used Google Lens to check the piece and hallmarks on the bezel and confirmed it was a generic, pre-made setting available onlineāsomething I could have easily purchased and assembled myself for far less. It was 100% not what I asked for, and it's painfully clear that my parentsā ring was never used.
He proceeded to tell me that the ring was gone, and I needed to pay out of pocket for all the additional gold used, which didnāt make sense given the original ringās weight and value far exceeded what I was provided.
My ring was pocketed and I was given a low-cost substitute in return.
Itās devastating. What was meant to be a tribute to my parents' bond turned into a betrayal. I lost something irreplaceableānot just a ring, but the only physical symbol I had of their history together.
He profited in multiple ways: -Charged me for labor -Charged me for the bezel cost ((Hello big red flag!)) -Charged me for extra gold used -Then he got a free ring out of it.
He profited in four ways, for something I found online for $100. Which he probably bought wholesale for even cheaper.
I am just incredibly bummed because the ring is gone. I don't even care about the cash I had to pay extra. (Not even to mention the $600 rope chain I also bought to house everything that was frayed and broken.) Money comes, and money goes. But the ring is gone forever.
I politely presented all of this to them, and the older lady who works at the counter looked me dead in the eyes and said "oh well, there is nothing we can do about it." The main older guy and his son never even looked up despite being 3 feet away at their jewelry bench.
Iām writing this not out of anger, but from deep sadness. I hope this helps someone else avoid the pain Iām feeling. Please be extremely cautious before entrusting Crown Jewelers with anything meaningful or sentimental. I would never want another person to go through what I did.
Do your research, have things recorded, written, etc.
It's a shame you can't trust local...
Ā Ā Ā Read more"Where Customers are Treated like Royalty" is emblazoned proudly on the door as you enter. Sure, you think, everyone is all about customer service these days. Well lemmetellyawhut, good 'ol Johnny (the owner) is about as Southern as fried chicken, mint juleps, and sweet tea. With his drawl comes the most hospitable, warm, and totally service oriented attitude one would expect from someone who claims to treat their customers like royalty.
I grew up coming to see Johnny; my mother and stepfather have purchased jewelry and service from him for years. When I was ready to buy an engagement ring for my bride, I came to Johnny. He made (as in personally fabricated) a positively beautiful three-stone ring in platinum that she absolutely loves. Also, did I mention he has better prices than the big box-stores, not to mention truly custom jewelry? All the other places let you pick a diamond and then a setting, "for a one of a kind diamond engagement ring" (if you didn't just read that in Tom Shane's voice, I'm sorry, because you will be now) that isn't really one of a kind, it's cookie-cutter. If you really want to wow her with something she can't find anywhere else, come see Johnny first. Go check and see what the same money buys you elsewhere, then come back.
We love and trust him so much, my mother-in-law brings her family heirloom, circa 1910 platinum wedding set with multiple carats of diamonds all the way from NYC to have Johnny do repairs (she is a bit rough on it) because she doesn't trust it with anyone else.
In short, I don't buy jewelry anywhere else because even if he doesn't have it in his display case, Johnny can make you just about anything. Don't go to Jared (or one of those other big jewelry stores),...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter going to multiple different jewelers and being told it would take months to get a custom engagement ring, I went in to Crown Jewelry & Gifts on November 27th. They are family owned and operated by Mr. Johnny and his wife. I talked with Mr. Johnny and showed him a picture of what I was looking for with a couple of slight differences. It really felt like Mr. Johnny saw my vision and even assured me that he could have it the week before Christmas, something I hadnāt felt or heard from other jewelers. The ring was perfect and ready on December 19th (a day earlier than the promise date of December 20th). Mr. Johnny even said it was the first one he had made like it, showing his ability to create anything you can think of. I couldnāt have been happier with how the ring came out, the timeline, quality, price, and overall customer experience. I highly, highly recommend Crown Jewelry & Gifts to anyone looking for a quality jeweler with excellent...
