I moved to Tennessee in July. I was most excited to find my local Hobby Lobby as I myself had worked in management for the company for 7 years in Texas. Let me just say the standards are clearly polar opposite. From the moment I walked in this location I wasn't greeted. I was stared at like I had 'look at me crazily' sign pasted in my face. Sure, I'm new to the area but I'm no stranger to Hobby Lobby. I got a lay of the land and went to shopping despite the unfriendliness. I was quickly discouraged when I realized that 3 sections in the home accent department weren't signed correctly. I then grabbed an ad and was able to shop the products I needed. I had to special order drawer pulls. Which took 3 weeks for them to call me. When all along they had been in the wrong location on the sales floor and not pulled for my order. I basically rearranged 7-8 drawer pulls and matched the products to the correct bin with corresponding item numbers. Nobody apologized. Nothing was said about me doing their work for them. I'm sure they would be incorrectly done again if I went in today and looked. Then I went in again to get a mat cut for a framing project. I was told the measurements wouldn't work because their Wizard cutter wouldn't cut the mat. I measured the openings I needed and the spaces in between for the lady, and told them I could explain how to do it but then the lady said she would go ahead and try to cut it. And what do ya know, IT WORKED! I had to go in another time and arrived at 8:03 when the hours listed are Nationwide until 9pm during holidays. And the manager was blocking the door and unlocking it to let people out. I called the location and they said they were closing at 8. They wouldn't have extended holiday hours. That's nice. Time and time again I have a negative experience at this location. For 6 solid months I've tried to go back hoping it would be better and there is always someone that acts like they have something better to do that actually doing their job. Nobody here has a crafters mindset, or can even give you a suggestion for a product on a project. The standards need to be raised. These employees are getting paid pretty well to have such a poor attitude and lack interest in their...
Read moreSo rude and can’t even muster up a sense of compassion or empathy! My husband, who doesn’t know how to Christmas shop as I’m the one who does it every year until this year due to being on hospice with a terminal illness, went out to find a tree yesterday. He found one at Hobby Lobby in a discounted section and did not notice or think to turn the entire tree over to see the sticker on the very bottom that said the lights didn’t work. This is my last Christmas with my kids as I am on hospice care and I have been unable to do the Christmas shopping like I usually do. My husband doesn’t know how to check for things like this and again, the sticker was on the bottom of the box. Today when he opened it he noticed the lights didn’t work. I called Hobby Lobby and explained the situation and the guy VERY rudely said we could not return or even just exchange it for store credit. My kids are quite upset and we cannot afford to go out and buy a whole other tree. I tried explaining to the employee that my husband does not ever do the Christmas shopping and that he did not think anything was wrong with the tree as the sticker was not visible. No one at the register bothered to point out to him that this tree was broken and that he would not be able to return or exchange it. This store has no sense of customer service for all its Christian values it loves to advertise. He couldn’t even be bothered to apologize for the inconvenience, say happy holidays/merry Christmas, or anything. He just hung up on me. Way to treat a dying customer who is just trying to make the last Christmas with her kids a good one. I understand everyone is stressed around this time and I’ve worked retail at christmastime. It sucks. But there’s no excuse for how rudely I was treated. An exchange would have been perfectly acceptable to me but he barely even let me speak. I hope you all are happy with treating a dying costumer who is just trying to make one last good or just decent memory with her family with so much hostility and rudeness that I was in shock and speechless. And then to just hang up on me? Manners are nonexistent in...
Read moreWaited by the framing counter for assistance. The woman was helping another customer. She had to walk his items up front, no big deal. When she cane back to the department, she ignored me and helped another customer looking at products nearby. I was annoyed, but continued to wait. They were close enough I could hear their conversation. After answering his question, they started having a regular conversation. Sounded like they knew each other. I waited for them to be done, more annoyed, but whatever. When she was done it seemed like she was trying to walk past me, didnt acknowledge me at all even though she knew Id been in line at the counter since her first customer. I got her attention, politely, and tried to explain what size frame I was looking for. She immediately started shaking her head to indicate they didnt carry any in the size I needed and acted like she was going to just walk past me. I quickly asked what my best options would be. She waved up at the custom framing sign and said Id need to have one made. She seemed annoyed and like she was trying to walk away again. I quickly asked what kind of price that would be. She was clearly irritated at this pointand muttered it depends on the material. No further questions about my project or what I was looking for. No offer to help me choose something. I get that I dont look like the normal customer base for this store, Im young and have a couple of piercings, but shouldnt the employees still treat me with a little respect and at least act like they want my patronage? I left without getting what I needed. I really wish Id gotten her name so I could call and complain directly, though I doubt this...
