We have been eating at Franklin Chop House regularly for seven years now, and in fact in 2012 had our wedding reception here on a Sunday afternoon. This place is very well managed and does a great job of training their servers. The food is consistently very good and reasonably priced. My go-to item on their menu is Chop House Pasta, and I always ask them to make it with Angel Hair pasta. This is truly a dish that's hard to beat. They also have one of the best Reuben sandwiches I know of anywhere. Other honorable mentions are ribs, meat loaf, pork chops, and their chips and salsa dish is exceptionally good. My wife likes their salmon. Good veggies as well. I don't know if they make their own salsa but it is delicious and always tastes fresh. They do make their own salad dressings and their thousand island is out of this world. On Sundays they have a brunch menu, and also a chalkboard with a daily special for every day of the week. As far as drinks go I would have to say their bar is just average, but most people come here for the food so if you are coming specifically for mixed drinks you might be disappointed. However, their wines and beers are good and one beer they do have on tap that is particularly note worthy is a 23 oz Good People IPA, which I have grown to like a lot and order every time as my beverage. You don't see Good People beer on tap at many places around here so that is a plus, and I attached a photo of the one I consumed on my last visit! This restaurant tries hard to please and my wife and I like to support this business.
ADDED April 20, 2020 - Chop House just continues to do everything right during this pandemic crisis. We have ordered carry out food a few times since the dining room has been closed, and not only is the food just as great as ever but the staff is absolutely wonderful and the service is A+ top notch. Please continue to support this outstanding local restaurant by ordering to go meals until they reopen the dining room, and tip generously. I also just noticed they have a perfect score of 100 from the Tennessee Health Department, which does not surprise me at all. I took a picture of their certificate and...
Read moreDon't get me wrong, the food here is great! I have been several times and this is what they do good. What needs to improve is service and customer experience. I am local so when I had several guests come in town this weekend from Indiana, North Carolina and Georgia I wanted to take them here for some good food that doesn't break the budget. Saturday September 30 dinner at 6:45 pm. I asked for a taste of "Chicken Velvet" soup and as soon as it was brought, I immediately knew I wanted that so ordered a cup when I placed my order. 5 minutes later I am then informed they are out of that soup. We were offered biscuits but never got any throughout the entire meal. The only appetizer that we ordered came out AFTER our meals, no reason ever given nor an apology. One person ordered a burger which after asking several times where it was, finally came out while others ordered dessert. Several of us ordered 23 ounce Blue Moon beer and asked the server if these qualify for the "Saturday $1 off special" since it said 16 ounce. She confirmed it would be discounted. When given the bill we noticed they were not discounted. Our server asked a male manager who told her "the computer would once we paid" but it never applied any discount. The woman who I assume was a manager came over several times throughout our dinner and all she ever said was "Let me check on that" but never really apologized nor offered any compensation to our lengthy visit. We even ordered 2 desserts! Everyone was pleased with the price, quantity and overall quality of the food. I will not be bringing all of my friends here anymore, it was embarrassing after the rave I gave! ADVICE TO CHOP HOUSE: Biscuits offered should be sent to table. Appetizers should be received before a meal. Hamburger and fries shouldn't take 45 minutes to get! Discounts/Comp offers are...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner here tonight. We started with drinks. She had their Sugar Cookie cocktail, and I had a Maker's Mark Old Fasioned. The whiskey selection was not very big, but they did have the regulars. The Sugar Cookie tasted mostly like Bailey's and could have benefited from a bit more vanilla, but it was good. My Old Fashioned was good, though they use Marischino cherries instead of Luxardo cherries.
Our appetizer was the calamari. It was very chewy and seemed overly salty. I wouldn't order it again, necessarily. The marinara that came with it was very nice.
Biscuits arrived, and they were fantastic. They were light and flaky. Served with butter, we thoroughly enjoyed them.
I ordered a house, Ceaser salad, as my side. It was a basic lettuce and shredded cheese salad with a few croutons. The dressing was good. I enjoyed it. I will order this again.
Entrees were hard to choose as there is such a fantastic array of things to choose from on their menu. I opted for the Louisiana Bayou Shrimp with Crawfish. It comes in a creme sauce served over red beans and rice. Very good! Lots of flavor, the right amount of spice, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. My wife had the Apple Cheddar Grill sandwich. She loved it. I had a bite and can say that I will have this on a future trip. Grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, and baked apple slices on sourdough bread is a great combination.
The portion sizes were well worth the price of the meals. We didn't have room for dessert, but we will give that a try on the next visit.
This was our first visit, but it will definitely not...
