Unfortunately we have been for dinner ($150) And brunch ($50) for 2 people. For dinner we went with friends, large party and first week opening ( Franklin location). Our server seemed like it was her first day on job, she didn’t know the menu and instead of double checking she “mislead” us which resulted in nothing being as portrayed. Our appetizers, onion loaf (raw in center) came right out while our Mozz Lolis were 20 minutes later as our server gave them to someone else ant the table that showed up and ordered well after the rest of the table and blamed the kitchen. My wife was 1 of 4 filets at the table, was over cooked and not one of the 4 filets resembled the other. The hollandaise sauce was inedible. I ordered the ribeye ($42) med rare. What I was served was a med-med well ribeye that had little to no grill char and was very chewy, in a bad way. It was served with cold, hard potatoes and a spoon full of cold over cooked veggies. Our server never once checked in once we got our meals. Next was dessert, we asked numerous times about the cheesecake (raspberry). We were reassured that it was a raspberry cheesecake topped with a compote. 3 of these desserts were ordered, two of them were a plain cheesecake served atop a chocolate syrup, one was served drizzled with a raspberry syrup. I’ll chalk it up to the first week open for mistakes but when you charge $40+ for a steak entree and it stinks, you shouldn’t be a steak house.
Secondly was brunch, Again appetizers were very quick to come out of the kitchen. An HOUR later our brunch was served, mind you numerous tables had been flipped by this point (we were a party of 6). So I’m unsure where the ball was dropped within the restaurant. The food was fine, nothing superior to Dennys, yet the pancakes tasted more of cornbread than a pancake. $8 mimosa - 6oz of OJ with a splash of champagne. Eggs were supposed to be cooked to order, while we all ordered over easy we were served scrambled - could have been an error on the servers behalf, unsure as we were happy to have finally received our meals and chose to eat opposed to wait for them to be corrected. The bartender had a cigarette behind his ear the whole time - I only mention this as it seems this establishment wants to be considered a “higher end” dining option. This review could have so easily been avoided had a manager or anyone for that matter had made their presence known in the two visits we’ve made in the past 3 weeks....
Read moreWe were in town for a few hours for some business and decided to find somewhere local to eat. Like others have said, seeing the below 4 star rating (it was 3.3 stars when we looked) made me initially rule out coming here. However, after getting a recommendation for the place from a local, as well as seeing what made the reviews low, we decided to give the place a try. Let me say, we were very happy with our decision.
Three atmosphere, design, and decoration was lovely. It was simply yet classy, warm and welcoming. When we entered we were greeted promptly by a member behind the bar and told that someone would be with us in a moment. Throughout the evening the staff was great, very friendly and attentive.
For our orders we started with the fried cheese lollipops. Husband ordered the brisket as his entree, with the smoked gouda mac and cheese for the side. Since we were there on a Thursday I opted for their Thursday special of surf and turf, an 8oz sirloin and three shrimp (I chose fried shrimp). Both entrees came with a house salad, bread for the table, and chef's vegetables, which was a squash and zucchini medley in a tomato sauce.
Presentation was appealing, and everything tasted amazing. Though I did get ranch with my salad, I was also brought the house dressing to try. Next time I will definitely order the house dressing. The steak was cooked perfectly. The fried shrimp had a classic batter coating and were cooked perfectly. Husband's mac was delicious as well. I cannot comment on the brisket as I didn't taste it, but husband said it was really good. If I had to find something to not like it would be that the lollipop sticks in the fried cheese lollipops were simply gimmicky and useless. The fried cheese was cooked perfectly which made it not stay on the sticks.
I would definitely return, even with us...
Read moreWent on a Sunday night and unbeknownst to us, they just have their lunch menu. Ok, strange that it wasn’t noted anywhere until we asked the waitress. We were able to order a ribeye for each of us . Our order came out fairly quick. The broccoli was nice and green and cooked just right. The steaks, well, mine was rare just like I ordered. I wasn’t expecting Ruth’s Chris but my steak had absolutely no flavor, even after I loaded it up with salt and 57 Sauce. It was if they just slapped it on a grill, flipped over, and then plated it. For a restaurant named Chop House I expected more. The next surprise was the price, $43! I wouldn’t have minded it if the steak was good. I guess it’s our fault for not asking the price since we didn’t see it on the menu. Another thing I wondered about was why the young lady who was bussing the tables was wearing a hoodie. It wasn’t especially cold. If I’m going to pay $43 for a meal it would be nice if the employees could dress appropriately. Maybe she was filling in for someone who called in sick? I guess to sum it up, if we return , it won’t be on a Sunday night. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant so I don’t fault her. This seems like a management issue. Franklin doesn’t have a lot of restaurants so they have the potential of being successful. Let your patrons know of your abbreviated menu, have employees dressed appropriately ( there was a waiter dressed in black and he looked like he was experienced), and have your chef use...
