I want to first say the I dont typically shop at JCPenny, I usually shop at Macys. I have never bought myself diamond jewelry before and for the first time I gifted myself for mothers day a pair of diamond hoop earrings. The clasp on the earrings were light and different from what I am used to but I hoped their wouldn’t be an issue as I was assured by the staff member they dont have issues with their clasp so, I trusted her judgement. And my greatest fear happened within 6 days of buying the earrings one fell out of my ear twice in that day and that second time it was gone and lost. I went to see what my options were as I did purchase the insurance and they seen proof of the clasp with the other earrings. I was instructed next time to bite the clasp myself to make it tighter. Say what now!!! Not a $400 plus pair of diamond earrings, you want me to bite on??? I am super emotional about this with no resolution. Not to mention I went to JCpenney to get the ring my mom purchased for me a few years ago cleaned and updated per the insurance. I was called about two weeks later and told that they did want to do it because the repairs would cost more than the value of the ring at this point and that I could get a credit to use towards my next purchase which would have been the earrings I was going to purchase. So my mom just upgraded my ring, but she bought it at a different location with the insurance. I was then told ohh they cant size this ring. So I said fine I will just keep it the size it is. Upon check out I was told ohh now I have to wait for the credit. Which I have still not received a call about by the way. So much to unpack here but I am just so disappointed with how all of this has been handled especially having insurance on the jewelry. I wont be shopping at JcPenny anymore especially the jewelry department moving forward after I use the credit of something...
Read moreI love JCPenney. They have my favorite selection of clothing for the whole family and a lot of other fun stuff too. Their inventory is always quite large and they always have sales and discounts going on. My complaint here is that every time I visit I notice things are not always priced as marked and in fact are often marked wrong entirely and if it's in the customer's favor the checkers are likely to revoke the deal at the time of checkout. I've seen this occur several times with people ahead of me in line on different occasions. Also, I had a skirt for my daughter once that was priced under a dollar in the clearance section, the checker didn't agree with the marked price so she tried to pull it (not sell it to me at all). I simply said I wanted it anyway even if the price was different, but she couldn't tell me what the price was. I ended up with the skirt, but the whole thing was just absurd, choosing to not sell an item at checkout because of the store's incompetence or laziness. Another time a rack full of the same clothing item was clearly marked buy one get one half off with a big sign attached to the rack, but at checkout the checker said they weren't on sale and tried to charge me full price, so I put one back. Another time, I asked an employee working the women's section if they had a particular common type of women's clothing in stock and she looked at me confused saying she'd never heard of it. The item I asked about, which could've been in any section of the women's department during any season was an undershirt or exercise shirt with a built in bra also known as a shelf bra. Just crazy. I still shop here because they carry the brands I love and you can find great deals, but it's a hectic shopping experience in this confused...
Read moreGrowing up around here, i've watched this store grow and attract penny pinching customers that hassle the employees for every coupon and savings possible. My past visit here was atrocious. I'm giving two stars because I did leave with what I needed, for the price I expected. But the journey to do that was aggravating and tiresome. I waited in one line, with one associate and one customer. I had passed them before, thinking they were almost done, and there was no one else in line. I waited a solid 10 minutes, no one reassured me that they were going to assist me soon or acknowledge my presence.
The next line i found, I spent 20 minutes and there was movement so it was more hopeful. All the customers ahead of me were the same penny pinching, cheap customers and each of them spent way too long in the line and the employees were quick and persistent to shut them down.
However, I'm a retail worker and I was trying to also get a price match to JcPenney's website, which is a no brainer to do, and it took the cashier FOUR OTHER different associates to get their opinion, but none of them helped until the last one which was clearly a shift manager of sorts. I couldn't help but feel like this was because of the customers that come in all the time. It just sucks that I know what i'm talking about and i'm perfectly aware of associate permissions when it comes to discounts, but I was made out to be another hassler penny pincher. Fix the management, fix the way you handle these people. It's difficult, I know, especially when you're consistently haggling with the same people, but not every customer is coming in with the same intentions and don't deserve to get the...
