Today was different. A rainy Saturday with little to do, so I chose to hit the Restores today. Iāll usually hit a few a few times a week. Today I was in Fuquay at my 4th store for the day, and planning on hitting at least 2 more. The Fuquay cashier ended that. Iād been through the store and all Iād chosen was some DVDs. At checkout, the total was $4.29. The cashier ask me to round up to $5. I said make it $4.50 since Iād already rounded up a few times today. Pulled my card out to pay and he stopped me. He said I had to round up to $5 if I wanted to use my card. Corporate policy. Thatās the first for me with Habitat. Almost like blackmail. If I donāt donate more, I canāt use my card. I pulled out cash and went ahead and made my purchase. But it left a sour taste in my mouth. No signs or postings at the register or on the door saying there was a minimum for card purchases and no other store had even done that to me. I should have just left everything laying there and walked out. A business shouldnāt tell a customer how to spend their money. . It will not happen again. And today, at least 2 other stores lost potential sales because of that sour taste...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited the ReStore in Fuquay-Varina NC to donate a new window when the manufacturer sent a wrong size and didn't want me to return it. This was my first time in the store and it is very well laid out with items grouped by category/kind, and prices are clearly marked. There are signs in place explaining how prices of items are reduced, based upon the length of time they have been in the store. There is a great variety of items available, and I was very much impressed by a big book near the front of the store containing Do-It-Yourself ideas and pictures of ways to use/re-purpose items commonly found in the store. The donation process was very simple: an associate took the heavy window out of my vehicle, stepped over to a computer, and created an email confirming the donation. When I arrived at home, the email was waiting for me. I will definitely return to the Fuqyay-Varina ReStore, ready to make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreScheduled with Habitat for Humanity to pick up a year old dryer, microwave and some other furniture as Iām moving and theyāre no longer needed. They gave me a time window of 12 to 3:30. I took time out of my day to wait for them.. they never show and I get a call ten minutes after 3:30 telling me they arenāt coming and canāt come back until next week. That does me no good as Iāll be out of my house and into my new place by then. This puts me in a tight spot as now I need to find out how to get rid of these pieces quickly in the next few days and anywhere else that would take them is scheduled out. Wanted to donate and now have a headache.. thanks Habit for Humanity. Absolutely ridiculous that you couldnāt work with me for another pick up time after...
