I have been coming to this library for 10 years. The staff, which consisted of older women were always professional and courteous. As of late, when you go into the library, it is very dis-organized. I would advise you to go someplace else if you have work to do on the computers. People are talking on the phone, very loud, and the staff does nothing to correct it when you complain. Interestingly enough, none of the older women were there that day. It was only the young guy and a young girl. The guy has a serious attitude problem and if you talk to him he has a snide undertone to his responses.I had asked for the woman’s number who was in charge, being as when I discreetly complained about me taking a test and the guy across from me talking on his phone for 20 minutes. He said that there was a manager there now. I said, I’d rather have the person that’s over her because I complained and nothing was done. I’ve failed that test and my professor would not give me a redo. He said, “oh well, you didn’t say anything to me “. Very rude. I make it a point to not go to this library anymore, ever since then. I thought the library was supposed to be a quiet place to read and study but I guess not. I don’t know if it’s because of the young people are there and maybe in this day and age, libraries are not supposed to be a place of peace and quiet anymore. I don’t know. That is the third time that I want to the library and it was filled with people talking and laughing and it’s just a hang out spot now. Very bad taste. Hopefully, and when they move over to the new library In the fall it would be better. Very...
Read moreNot an ideal place to study. The noise isn't as bad as other libraries I've been to, but it does make reading or studying quite difficult. This is a local, family-oriented community library, hence it is TINY! There's only 3 tables that can sit 4 people and 2 chairs available to use. There are 10 public computers available. I haven't used the wired computers, but the WiFi speed is around 2 Mbps, which is decent enough. To be such a small library there is quite a selection of books, half for children, half for adults. The library is pretty good for what it is, a place for locals to pick up a quick read or to take their children for a safe outing, but it's not a place to get any work done. So far the best library for students in Raleigh that I've found is DH Hill library on Hillsborough St. Hope this...
Read moreA quiet enough space to read and work if you stay on the adult areas, but definitely a place loud children come at times. The building is very new, clean, and improved over the old building. The library system has also done significant work to make sure new books are widely available, so selection is always interesting. You can access any book in the Wake county library system if you're willing to wait for delivery from storage or another library, so variety and availability is high.
Downsides (in my opinion) are that the adult sections are sorted by author, not genre, so browsing can be difficult if you are, say, browsing for "mystery"...
