Iâm not one to leave reviews unless I really really enjoy the place or just have a terrible experience and I typically give the benefit-of-the-doubt in those instances. I was visiting my hometown and took my nieces here to get their nails done for their birthday. I did a lot of research on places in the area and decided on this one because I was extremely impressed with some of the work I saw. I tried to make my appointment with Connor, but they donât do weekend appointments. Iâm giving 3 stars because both of my nieces had beautiful well-done nails. (Donât know their nail tech names) I on the other hand, did not receive nice nails. I may be biased since I, myself am a cosmetologist and am a bit nit-picky, but I just wanted to share my experience so that improvements may be made. Angelica did my service and based on her work and that she had a temporary license (meaning she hasnât yet taken her practical state exam), Iâm going to assume she is an apprentice. I read the sign saying I might receive a service from an apprentice, Iâm fine with that. Everyone starts off somewhere. My problem was that her license was expired. I showed her a picture of what shape I wanted. What she gave was similar, when filing I asked her to correct a few, she tried but still didnât get it right and some nails wound up shorter than the others. After she tried to correct them I mentioned some looked a little wonky. She said itâs okay that sheâd have to re-file after she did the dip anyway. After dipping, there were still issues with them being crooked. I eventually gave up on this. They also came out very lumpy and uneven. I again asked to have a few fixed. She attempted to fix them and ended up putting a dip/slope shape into all of them. The edges came out very rough and messy.
I donât say this to speak badly of Angelica. I understand she is probably still learning and she did her best to try and solve the problems. I say this because I believe if you are going to have apprentices in your shop they should be supervised and be checked in on when theyâre doing a service. Or at least at the end of a service. A lot of these were issues that could have easily been fixed by an experienced nail tech.
The shop was very clean and everyone was polite. Even though I was very disappointed with my own nails, my nieces both came out looking flawless. I would definitely give this shop another chance if I ever get my nails done in Gadsden again.. just maybe with a...
Read more12/29/21 It was my first time visiting Adventure Nails, and man was it an adventure. I walked in with no appointment and there was little wait time. I sat down with the guy (1) two seats away from the reception area and explained what I wanted- glitter ombrĂ© nails, he did not seem very confident to provide what I asked for, so I asked the guy (2) sitting next to him (beside reception) to see if he could do my nails since the girl he was taking care of had exactly what I was looking for an her nails looked great! With an attitude, guy 2 looked at me and responded âyou canât do that, you already sat down with himâ. I couldnât understand why he would refuse to do my nails when I am the paying customer and I did not feel comfortable with guy 1 doing my nails, but I sat there and let him work anyway. I realized as he was filing my nails that my thumb nails were much shorter than the rest of my nails and I asked him if he could please stop filing them because I wanted my nails to be even in length, to which he responded âwe file the thumbs shorter so you can use them moreâ ???? Iâve gotten my nails done religiously for YEARS and no one has ever made my thumbs shorter for any reason. Before he started with the glitter for the ombrĂ© he let me know it would be $75. Since I was already not happy with my nail shape I felt this was overpriced and decided not to go with the glitter. This seemed to bother him and he quickly added the top coat and told me I was finished. I ended up paying $65 for terrible nails and service. My thumb nail was not even with the rest of my nails, my middle finger nail was filed crooked, and my index finger nail somehow angled upward??? (Again in my years of getting my nails done this has never happened) he left my fingers crusted with acrylic all over them. I was going to hold off on leaving a bad review because maybe it was just a bad day, but now not even a week later my nails are lifting and chipping. Very disappointed in the work and service, I would not recommend this place, and most definitely...
Read moreIâm not one to do reviews but I feel like I was charged wrong and questioned them twice. I chose the $35 pedicure merely because I really donât want all the extras. I apparently had someone new that didnât know how to cut toenails and dig out ingrown nails. When she got ready to paint them they were so sharp on the ends they would have stabbed my husband. I ask her to clip the corners but she filed instead. She tried to say I had gel on my toes and I did not. I told her that I do not like gel because itâs too hard to get off. The owner complained that I didnât want gel. I had her to paint them French and that is usually $5 extra everywhere that I have been. They charged $15 extra to do French, therefore I didnât tip. During the time she was doing my feet she mentioned my diamond ring and I told her I had a good husband. She then ask if it was expensive and I ask her does it really matter if it was expensive if itâs pretty. I feel like I was charged according to the size of my diamond. That is okay because they wonât get that opportunity again.
Edited to add: The reason it took an hour and a half is because the person you put doing my feet did not know what she was doing and had very little experience. You said she did everything I ask and that is a lie because she could not understand what I ask of her. I chose the $35 pedicure and every place I have ever went to charges $5 extra for French but you knew I wasnât going to tip because I was not happy, so you just added it to my bill. I usually do tip. I tried to get up and leave because I was very unhappy with the service I was getting and your attitude, but you talked me into staying. I wish I had left before my feet were so called finished! I see why there is never anyone...
