Visited (& made several purchases) at this location twice within the past week. I'll start with the highlights, Peter, Ryan & Chakra? (she's one of the managers who assisted me; however, this is NOT the correct spelling of her name, so my apologies) were all wonderful, knowledgeable, super friendly, & helpful; however, Sue, not so much. After asking for assistance, she informed me that she was in the process of assisting another customer, which was perfectly understandable; however, it was her actions afterward that I found to be most troubling. Shortly thereafter, when it became clear that she was no longer assisting other customers & after making eye contact with me on multiple occasions (at one point she even appeared to turn in the opposite direction once she saw me & realized she was headed back my way & saw that I was still browsing in the area we had initially spoken... very awkward! Afterward, I kept seeing her on several occasions (& she saw me as well), but at no time did she bother to ask if I still needed assistance with anything. Towards the end of my shopping experience, I saw her, yet again, assisting another customer on an aisle that I happened to also be on, and even though this was "another" opportunity for her to engage, she chose to ignore me. Ultimately, based on this experience, she left me with the impression that she gets to prioritize & assist customers as she sees fit. I typically make large purchases at this chain (I frequent the Frederick location as well) & will probably return to the Kentland store in the future; however, poor customer service should always be flagged, &...
Read moreThe first time I came here it was pretty awesome - huge variety of items. It is overwhelming. They have multiple aisles of stuff and I thought things were decently priced. I thought it would be the place to go when I need lots of new home goods.
Here in 2023, I come back to the store, excited to check out the clearance section and what cool (probably unnecessary) stuff I can get at a discount. See the photos and look carefully. Many items were marked "clearance" but you can clearly see the original price tag of example $24.99, with a sticker over it of price $29.99. And this was a dirty straw and cloth basket with lots of random crumbs in it. On the Valentines day clearance shelf. In APRIL! Feeling deceived, I left the clearance section with a frown and went to look for the stuff I actually needed. I found products across the whole store with new price stickers slapped over the original tag, marking up the original price by a few dollars for each item. Imagine if you didn't pay attention to the price tags and bought a bunch of stuff. That adds up to a lot of extra money!! I know inflation has been difficult on everyone but this is just terribly lazy and bad marketing and has left a really bad taste such that I do not want to shop here anymore. It's probably for the best because I could waste hours walking through the store looking for stuff and not find the right things.
Also, of their display furniture, many are damaged and poorly maintained. I don't know if that's due to poor quality products or shoppers abusing the display items but either way it makes me not want to purchase...
Read moreThis At Home is one of the worst locations I have ever been to. If I didn't love some of the items they sell here and the variety, I would never shop here. Pros are the large assortment of items for your house, when I first moved I got a lot of decorations, kitchen items, and bathroom items here as well as wall art that is very nice. Some things are reasonably priced as well. Cons are the disorganization of items in the store, many things are damaged or broken, and there is NEVER an employee to help you with anything. There are rarely discounts as well, unlike Bed Bath and Beyond or Kohls that give you discounts and coupons to use. The customer service is atrocious, every.single.time. The employees I have encountered are rude, not well trained, and make it very difficult to check out. It's to the point that I dread checking out at that store. I think they should re-evaluate the employees they hire or retrain team members as the rudeness, incompetence, and clear unhappiness of the people working there makes it a stressful visit almost everytime I go there.
But man the assortment of decorations is like nothing you'll find elsewhere! Just be prepared to hunt down someone if you need help, double check all items before you buy (as I have bought broken things before), and brace yourself...
