1 Star – Everything’s Massively Overpriced, Especially the Pinball Machine
I stopped into A Robin’s Nest of Antiques & Treasures recently and was seriously disappointed by the pricing across the board. I did thorough research on nearly every item I looked at — especially the 1967 Gottlieb “Super Score” pinball machine they have for sale.
That machine is not working, not in good cosmetic shape, and only functions “sometimes” according to the staff. Based on actual market value: • Fully working: $1,200–$1,800 • Partially working and fair shape (like this one): $300–$450 • Not working or poor condition: $150–$300
Despite all that, they’re trying to sell it for $2,000 — more than 4–6x what it’s actually worth in this condition. It’s barely above “parts machine” status. This wasn’t an isolated case either; everything I checked in the store was priced at least double what it’s worth elsewhere.
Cool-looking place, but not somewhere I’d recommend if you actually want fair prices or know what...
Read moreThis is the main antique mall in Grand Junction. I have been there many times, and each time it becomes a little less interesting. A few of the ladies working the checkout desk are nice, some are not.
We inquired about selling a small selection of our stuff here, and were told that all new vendors start in the basement. We were also told we could not lock up our items because they "didn't want to have to constantly walk downstairs to unlock a case". We were wanting to sell some valuable coins and trading cards....but not if we can't lock up our items! The final straw that steered us away from selling here was that they would only allow us to move up to the main level if we "sold enough, and then we would be INVITED". That comes across as really snobbish. A lot of the other antique places in town also feel the same way about this place. There are some cool items here, but not with...
Read moreVery unpleasant experience with what was to be a two day stay. Got there to find the room I had reserved two months prior was not available. We were out into another room which had a pulsating frequency that came off and on every second in a pattern of forty-five minutes on and fifteen minutes off... All night long: we got three hours of sleep. The following day requested to be put back into the original room we had booked and were told that was fine but it wouldn't be ready until 4:00. Fine. Had to move out. Came back at designated time and was told that room was given away. Instead they put us into a room with a terrible location and smelled of cigarettes. We were told there were no other rooms in the area we had booked, instead we were only offered first floor options looking into the parking lot at the higher price I had originally paid for. We left and asked for our money back. Will...
