I have held off writing my review for a literal year because I didn't want my one bad experience to sour the bunch, but I have decided I think it's important feedback to give.
I went to Michele's for a single process color and haircut every 7-9 weeks for about half a year, maybe a full year. I spent an ungodly amount of money because I was told they were fantastic and also the reviews were fantastic. If you're looking for a solid color stylist and posh atmosphere, this is probably still your best bet. However, I had a few issues with the service that I received there.
The first problem was the fact that my stylist was incapable of being on time to the appointment. My appointments were in the evening during the week and not once was she on time. And no, it wasn't just because her appointments ran over because one of her earlier clients was late. There were two times where she wasn't even at the salon when my appointment was supposed to start.
My second problem is the real issue that I had, and the reason I stopped going entirely. If there is one rule that I have when it comes to getting ANY type of service from a salon, it's that I should leave that salon feeling refreshed, confident, and like I did some sort of self-care. A number of times with Michele's, however, I left feeling awful about myself. The last time that I went there, the young man who blow-dried my hair made the weirdest comment. "Wow you're hair is sooo stubborn." He and the stylist proceeded to talk about my hair as if I was not there, about it being stubborn, limp, and thin. After, when she took over the blow dry and finished styling my hair, there was one point where she bounced my hair over my shoulders and sighed saying "Well this is as good as it is going to get."
Let me be clear, my hair is not abnormally straight or thin. It's just fine hair! I'm not balding, I'm not asking for a blow-out, I'm not asking for a haircut that my hair can't handle, and I am under no delusions about what my hair is and is not capable of. I asked to get my roots done, a hair trim and a blow-dry. I left that salon $200 poorer, sobbing in my car because my hair wasn't good enough for this stylist. I have never, in my life, been treated this way at a salon. I have family that does the same thing for another living in another state and they were shocked when I told them what happened. While the stylists might be competent and talented for the area, there is no excuse to treat any one this way. I am extremely disappointed that they thought that this was OK and I would never recommend this place to anyone after...
Read moreIf you’re considering booking, this is your sign to do it! I had the pleasure of working with Jazmyn and I can’t speak more highly of her and my experience. Although I’ve had 30 years with my often unruly curly hair, I still find it difficult putting the words to what’s working and what’s not, especially when visiting a new artist. Jazmyn was so thorough with my consultation and went the next step to offer up her advice and insight. I got a dry cut, wash, and wet style (I prefer to let it mostly air dry so see how it shapes up.) I was in a totally boring hair rut and even my wife has told me that now my hair is so much more ‘me’ and the curls are alive again. I’m thrilled. And If you’ve got curls, you KNOW it’s never the same two days in a row, so Jazmyns emphasis on reaching out the next day to see if there were any concerns was so refreshing. To top it off the salon just had a great energy, was very clean, and the people were welcoming and just really pleasant to interact with. Very Covid safe. Fabulous service. Just moved to GB so I’ll be spending more time...
Read moreThis place is awesome! I just had the privilege of Josh doing my hair (cut&color) for the second time and I am over the moon. He literally read my mind even though I came in with such a disjointed, scatterbrained idea of what I wanted. He listened to my rambling and gave me options and advice tailored to my style and maintenance routine. He really made the experience wonderful despite my indecisiveness and anxiety. He truly is an artist and takes such care and attention to detail! I also came in looking like a scrub both times (working class girl that usually has ONE outfit that is dirty) and I never felt judged! Praise for Josh aside, the whole team here is very warm and welcoming. The gal at the front desk was super helpful and bubbly, made me tea and took my jacket. Both times I was here I got to enjoy the playful banter between coworkers and I loved that the other stylists engaged with me and made me feel super at home as well. Also! The aesthetic in there is such a vibe. 10/10...
