I SOOOOOO wanted to give this store 5 stars but they had one major flaw. Which I’ll get to in a minute... First, what I liked about them... As a self proclaimed nerd I started drooling when I walked in! They had to have the largest selection of nerd paraphernalia in all of Nerdom lol! But seriously, video games, they had games for many of the consoles that are obsolete and only collectors are looking for. D&D stuff, Magic the Gathering stuff, LOTR stuff, Harry Potter stuff, and Star Wars stuff... heck, they even had a life size Darth Vader just hangin out in the corner! And much MUCH more! I didn’t even have time to look at half of the inventory and I was there for 30 min at least! They even had a small area with guitars and violins and other musical instruments for sell (they were all cheap student models) but they had them! Ok ok ok...now for why I gathered you all here today....There comes a time when we all must part with a game(s) we love for one reason or another. That happened to me recently. The power bill was due and I was short a bit so I decided I’d sell some PS4 and Nintendo Switch games. So I called ahead to see if someone could give me a ballpark figure of what they might pay for them. And the person o spoke to said the she couldn’t tell me without seeing them first. I assured her that I take immaculate care of my games and I would also not hold her to any price she gave me over the phone. Still wouldn’t do it, so I had to drive my lazy butt to the store lol. Now, I have a Pro Membership at GameStop and went to their website to see what I could get for them there. And we all know what a punch in the gut it is when you see on the website or the employee behind the counter tells you that they’ll give you $17.20 for a game you paid $60 for! Anyhoo, looked like I’d get about $140 from GameStop. So I arrive at 2ndNC and once I’m looking at the awesome selection of games I’m thinking “well they must pay pretty well if people are selling them games like these!” They do things a little differently than GameStop. You take them your games and give them to the person at the counter and then they text you when they have an offer for cash price or store credit price....They offered me $70 dollars for the 9 games I took in!......Seventy flippin dollars!!! HALF of what GameStop offers. And as I mentioned above… We all know what a smack in the face it is for the tiniest bit that GameStop offers, and for them to offer HALF?!?! I got my games back and took off. Now, hopefully someone from 2ndNC will see this. I understand how the whole resale/pawn shop business model works. They’ll tell you that they’re taking all the risk because There’s no way of telling how long those games will sit on the shelf before they sell. And I agree IF the games are dated! These were all games I got for either Christmas or my birthday (which is just a few days after Christmas). So they are all currently being sold at places like Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop and such! So I have a feeling they’ll go pretty dang quickly! And to the person from 2ndNC that’s hopefully reading this...if you’re paying LESS than what GameStop pays for games then that word will get around. So you have GOT to be missing out on a TON of opportunities by not even coming CLOSE to being competitive with GameStop! And I mean it would be one thing if you had no idea what they were paying for games but that information is freely available on their website to any and everyone you do not have to be a pro member in order to access that information. So anyway I hope this helps and sorry for the long rant! But second and Charles is an awesome store, The employees were all very friendly! Their inventory was Fantabulous! It’s just I cannot BELIEVE the pond shop prices they are trying to pay for games. I hope this helps somebody out...
Read moreThis made my third visit to this store in three days to get a very disappointing response. The two times I came in before I was told the wait would be over three hours or that all of the bins were taken up and I could not use them. I came in with my items to sell on the third day, which included six Loungefly backpacks, three jumbo Pop figures in their boxes, many other Pop figures in their boxes, and a lot of books. I approached the BuyBack counter and was rudely greeted by a female employee who continually complained about customers, including myself and my guest, to her coworkers. I noticed upon my first visit that even slightly used Loungeflys were being sold for brand new asking price, so I was expecting mine to be met with a reasonable offer that reflected this. The rude employee took my bins and said it would be an hour and a half wait. I had a total of five bins, two of which belonged to my guest and the other three to myself. I asked the employee to price the books separately, which she did not do. When I came back after the offers were ready, it had already been three hours. I was met with a new employee who was equally as rude. He gave back a bin with in-box Pop figures without an explanation. I asked why they could not be taken, and was told that they simply would not sell. The other two bins were priced together, and when I asked if the books could be priced separately, I was told that I would have to wait and make it a separate order. For the three jumbo Pop figures and the lot of about thirty books in new condition, the price match was disappointing to say the least. The two bins of my guest included six Loungeflys that have never been used. The offer was less than the cost of one Loungefly bag. When my guest expressed their disappointment, the employee told her to just sell them herself very rudely. We kindly requested all of our items back and the buckets were all thrown on the counter. I am very disappointed that this store sells used items for new price and expects people to sell their items for less than half of what they paid. The disorganization of books makes the store crowded and a displeasurable experience. The clearance items are not all labeled. The Pop figures are being priced higher than retail value. The staff is rude and made the experience not worthwhile. For having shopped and sold here before I will happily say I am never returning to this establishment.
Update: Upon returning home several Pop figures boxes were damaged and tags on the Loungeflys bags have been ripped off. Terrible service and ruining items I...
Read moreI recently visited 2nd & Charles to sell some of my anime figurines, hoping to downsize my collection to help cover medical expenses. I brought in about $400 worth of authentic figures from Japan, expecting at least a reasonable offer. After waiting around 30 minutes, I was given $45 in cash or $80 in store credit.
The offer was disappointingly low, especially considering the rarity and condition of the figures. What made the experience worse was the lackluster customer service at the selling counter. The staff member handling my transaction was impersonal, avoided eye contact, and barely explained anything. It felt like they just wanted me gone. They seemed overworked and uninterested, which made the entire process feel dismissive.
It wasn't even worth the gas money or time spent getting there. I ended up door dashing afterward, making only $15 for the day towards my surgery due to the loss of daytime hours.
On top of everything, I won't be returning to this location to either sell or buy. The store has a lot of items, but it's incredibly dusty, and the air quality triggered my allergies for several hours.
The other staff were fine, but if you're looking to sell collectibles, be prepared for lowball offers, poor service, and uncomfortable shopping conditions. You might be better off selling online or to a...
