Eating in the store is one thing. Ordering take out is another. Let me preface my issue with the fact that the people that work there have always been extraordinarily nice to deal with. Until they fix their take out service, I'm done spending money with CB. Over the years I have used take out sparingly, maybe 7 or 8 times. Each and every time I have had an issue. I have been left at curbside forever, given the wrong order, 3 quarts of collards, (on thanksgiving day no less), had items left out had to go back, and charged for "free" items. Today, I used the app to order 2 meals and a Free Reward appetizer. I went to pickup, parked as instructed, put in my space number and waited. After 20 minutes I finally went inside and asked for the order. It was on the counter. I was told they were "waiting for biscuits" and that's why it was taking so long. I pulled the biscuits out of the bag and they weren't even warm, so I guess they were making cold biscuits. Also, when I got home, the gravy that I ordered on the side was not in the bag. So the chicken with sawmill gravy was just chicken. The free appetizer has shown up on my credit card, so I spent 7 bucks for a "free" item, and they are supposed to be cheese poppers. They are tough, chewy, and cold, and also contained a random French fry amongst the poppers. I have never had a bad experience when I ate inside the store, but ordering ahead has been immensely frustrating. I am a really easy reviewer, it takes a LOT to lose my business, but CB has lost it. I will no longer spend my cash there, inside or curbside. It feels like takeout orders are their last concern. That's the way it is treated. Until they can figure out and fix why takeout orders are so hard to fill properly, I will go elsewhere. I will probably have to contact the BBB about being charged for an item that is advertised as free. Attached is a screenshot of the "Free" item that I was charged for and a pic of cold poppers with a bonus French fry in the container. Last pic is of the inside, chewy cheese. Unreal. Update- I used the chat function on the app to try and get a refund for the free item that I was charged for. The representative was unable to refund the money that they overcharged and sent a gift card link for a free entree. I do appreciate CB trying to fix this issue, as I said, in the past they have been very nice to deal with when there have been problems. At this point, I've just reached my limit for the amount of I have had issues there. A free entree is only useful if I actually planned on going back. Why can't an online help center refund you for something that their online service charged you for in error?

Okay.. I honestly almost feel bad doing this, but it’s a constant issue. It needs to be addressed. Calling in the morning before work, I ATTEMPT to get an answer by 7:10-7:16 from Cracker Barrel. Seems no one cares to answer before 7:27. I have been on some list for a free meal because the last THREE times I have ordered had been an ordeal. The first time no protein at all in my meal. No bacon. ONE egg. It was a mess. I called to fix things. “No problem” I was told. So I go back a few weeks later, and not only is my order wrong again. It’s sitting within reach, and I am told I must wait for the manager… “where is he/she? Was my question. Almost a half hour passed by. I come to find out they were outside just hanging out or smoking a cigarette who knows. Oh btw! At the end of the matter somehow I am not on this list for my meal. (After standing in wait for 18 minutes with the food in sight WHICH IS NOW COLD) Frustrated, I pay. Arriving at work I clock in, and sit down to eat. There’s no cutlery, there is no syrup. There is no sugar in my tea or a straw. Nothing. There is no side order of hash brown casserole (paid for it) Extremely frustrating when you have to fight for an answer to pay someone. Even more so, when you are forced to sit, and dine in to have your order made accordingly, and proper. I have written this post because here this morning I have fought again to get an answer again. In reality o should be able to call at 6:45 and have an answer. I SHOULD be able to pick up my food ready and hot at 7:00am. Especially with such a focus on all day breakfast menu items. I know I am owed a meal. And yet, I am on my way to pay your company again for multiple meals now that I am still owed. Perhaps this is not the base of my concern.. I am more displeased with the unimportance of my order, my time, my MONEY, and my handling staff members. Not to mention back to back to back mistakes on food you paid for that you were owed to begin with. I applogize for writing this post, but I attempted (4 times) to allow the staff to correct the issues… I finally got an answer this morning after my 4th attempt. I am going to pick up my food, and pay your organization, yet again. The End. I hope you enjoyed the book… Your move….

I ordered the six piece Crispy chicken tender dippers. They were delicious however they had no resemblance to the menu item. They were out of dumplings, corn bread and some of the dipping sauces. I don’t think anything was correct with the order. I dined with the finest plastic fork they could find while my server swept the floor next to my table. I ask for hot sauce when my food arrived, I never received it. My beverage was empty more than it was filled. I ask to speak with the manager. After waiting a considerable time I left without speaking with them. Updated . The manager got me as I was leaving. He stated that he had just been made aware of the issue. This was by far my worst experience at a Cracker Barrel. I do not leave one star reviews lightly. They earned it.

4.5.24 update: How I miss the old CB! Ordered a meatloaf plate to go for lunch. Arrived to pick it up. That was easy. Got back to work and that was a different story. The meal was cold. The slice of meatloaf I got (about 1/4 inch thick) was BURNT and was digusting to taste. Ended up dumping it. And CB, here is a tip: if a customer gets a $5 to go order that is cold for re-heating later, don't put it in the same bag with a meal that is supposed to be hot. Wish they had kept my lunch warm until I came in to pick it up. Lunch was wasted. Won't do it again.

11/2/23 update: I was about to write the same thing again not remembering my prior review. Sadly nothing has changed. Health score is a 90.7. Hostess took FOREVER to come and find out what I wanted. Saw me and just slowly sauntered her way over to the hostess stand. I couldn’t understand one single word she said because she was wearing a freaking mask (folks, let’s talk SCIENCE for. A minute. The weave of a masks is .04 and the size of the COVID virus is .01 so guess freaking what?! It is still going to get through. Stop being pawns again and again. I actually saw someone yesterday cough TWICE in her masks and didn’t even seem fazed. Folks, that is high school biology class stuff. Gross. Stop being a mindless pawn!!). Tea had practically no ice. Food hasn’t arrived yet.

CB used to be a great place to eat getting good southern cooking. Sadly whoever is in charge has destroyed that at least in Greenville, NC.

It is truly sad what has become of Cracker Barrel in its' staff and its' food. I went yesterday to pick up a plate for dinner. Three waitress over talking by the check-in stand while three of us were waiting in line to check out. No one went to check on a cashier or anything. Just stood there and kept on talking.

Finally someone came up and was checking out the person in front of me. She had a problem with the change for that person so someone else (with what looked literally like a mop on her head and piercings (including her nose that she touched when she wiped her nose) to help. After doing so, this person (who I came to find out was name Mikayla) said she could help me. I told her I had a togo plate. She goes and gets it and then just stands there. I finally say "do I need to do anything?" knowing I needed to check out, but she hadn't said one word to me. She finally perks up and points to the card reader. I told her "I'm sorry. I didn't know you needed me to do that since you hadn't said anything." I put in my gift card to use it up (not sure of the balance on it). She then does nothing AGAIN and proceeds to answer the phone and ignore me AGAIN. I look at the screen and it looks like I still had a balance to pay, but didn't know if she was ready because she WAS COMPLETELY IGNORING ME AGAIN. Finally I put in my card and she steps up and hits something on her register. All the while still not saying one word to me.

I waited because usually they go over your togo bag to make sure you got what you ordered. Nope. Little Mikayla is still ignoring me. I finally gathered up my bag and noticed there was a small drink. I asked what that was. She said it went with my kid's plate. I didn't order a kid's plate (to be fair it ended up being a cheaper option than ordering two sides with what I had ordered.) I didn't need the drink. She asked if she should call a manager (what the heck for?!) and I told her no because she was obviously much to busy ignoring me to do anything. I turned around and left with my order.

Cracker Barrel, I don't know what has happened to you. You used to have people lining the porch area waiting to get in. Not anymore. Your food is horrible (do you really need now 4-5 fried chicken dishes?!) not only in how it looks but also its taste. Mac and cheese that used to be awesome now taste like it came right out of a box mix. Your service has also become horrible in Greenville, NC. I'm done with Cracker Barrel. From the looks of things so are...
